  1. Great idea but but we have winter so therefore I'll continue to vermicompost in the basement year round. I have an army of red wigglers that have a verocious appetite. I also have a 50 gallon outdoor unit. Any type of worm tower is a plus and yours is the lowest priced I have seen to date.

  2. Are your tots bpa free also? I am renting a home, and i dont want to plant in a plasic bin that may leach plastics in my plants?? Please let me know!

  3. Good good idea, who would of thought…lol
    Thank you so much..God bless..:-))

  4. OK. So, I am a senior, and disabled, living in a rental property. I have never gardened so I am a total novice when it comes to this skill. I can see that the totes would definitely be something I could handle. Especially if they are on a raised surface. I have a question about the compost in the pitchers ………. and please forgive my lack of knowledge here when it comes to growing plants. Do you add worms to these totes ahead of time? I can't see any other way that they could show up in a raised tote. And if you do in fact add them, how could someone like me procure such handy wiggly helpers? Thanks for your patience and understanding with those of us who are clueless in these matters.

  5. This method works even better if you pickle the scraps with Bokashi Grains, first…worms go crazy for it like it's candy for them.

  6. I just made one.
I got a lot of okra root system in the two bucket system and was afraid to dump it out and disturb the roots.
I'm setting up more bins and composting in the layers plenty in them while the weather is humid and rainy. Im using using 50/50 bagged topsoil and peat and 10% bagged cheap cow manure to that, some broken down wood chips, yard waste, perlite, and 10-10-10 with minors fertilizer.

  7. Can use smaller containers like the large drink containers from Star bucks that come with covers- same idea kitchen scraps & dirt , leaves – snap on cover when done!

  8. For those of you wondering what to do when the pitcher fills up – I think the idea is when watering lift the lid up & fill with water which then goes out of the holes to fertilize the soil inside the tote as the stuff in the pitcher starts breaking down – microbes, fungus , bacteria immediately starts breaking all the leaves & kitchen scraps down so it’s a good idea to throw in a handful of native soil every few inches or so between the times you keep refilling the pitcher – earthworms eggs are in the soil also & if you see a couple of worms throw them in the pitcher too for faster decomposition – all the poop from the worms & the fertilizer from the breakdown of the plant materials will then leach out from the pitcher into the surrounding soil, fertilizing the plant roots growing in the tote – you will see the level of plant material go down after a few weeks so keep refilling with more kitchen materials , leaves & native soil as this happens

  9. When it rains I set up buckets or anything that can catch rainwater, when full I dump into gallon milk jugs or any plastic containers with a lid on it & put in shady area – great for starting seeds & watering seedlings

  10. Earthworms at least in CA can be found anywhere dig a hole, throw in kitchen scraps, bury & put something heavy over it so no animals get to it – come bk a few weeks later & you’ll find a bunch of earthworms in the hole – look under existing rocks, flower pots, woodpiles , anything in shade where soil may be damp -run around in the rain & look for them on cement sidewalks or you can order from vermiculture / earthworm farms or bait shops

  11. A dear friend's son likes to make pizza and she has to work all the time. I suggested she show him your videos and he can start learning about growing the ingredients. I sent her a few links to your pizza garden and other videos. You are changing the world. ☺☺☺

  12. I love this idea! I am so excited to try it next year, unfortunately, here in Canada we don't have much time left to garden. Plants are going yellow and others are starting to die completely. It is time to harvest and clean up for winter. I will definitely try it next year! Maybe remind us in colder climates to do this in March or April. Thanks again for your amazing videos!
