Spent the morning getting the barn / coop ready for this cold snap, got 40 bale's straw put into coops, goat houses, dog houses, tarps up, extra water buckets set inside cause the water will freeze. Sunday pulling AC out of Windows, putting plastic up in Windows, got the dog sweaters out for kitties, we put extra insulation around the hand pumps outside n pool noodles on the water hoses going to coops. We are doing all we can plus extra gas for generators. Going to store wed for few extra things like tea, soda, coffee creamer ( peppermint) etc. Worry about my chickens, geese n turkeys.

It's suppose to get down to 20 here tonight and the cold front isn't even here.I hope miss the snow here in Southern Indiana.We are all going to my son's lake house and it's in Amish country…county roads that most won't want to travel.

We had lots of damage in February, a week of very freezing weather (in TX) with lots of snow, broken pipes, off and on electric, limbs and trees down,… we have done what we can do and trust Father God for our help and provisions.thanks, autumn. We just got 2 1/2 cords of wood delivered and stacked! No matter what these demonic politicians throw at us, Holy Spirit can prepare us and we can rest in Him. 😀
I've been warning people the past 3 months something really bad is coming 12-22-2022 people don't listen.
My husband thinks I was nuts now he's asking how do we prepare I tell him I need his help I cannot do everything.
So now we gotta get extra blankets, batteries, head lights, tents, food we don't need to cook, more water.
I really hope this time he helps us out

Live in the DFW area and been preparing for this storm for two days, the gas heaters are ready, lanterns are fueled and ready to go, blankets are out, flashlights ready, water stacked up, even got our crank can opener out, puzzle books ready to go, a few novels, plenty of food, can't change the pipes and don't have the money for a generator but I've got what I've got dad and I both have walkie talkies don't plan on leaving the house the low is going to be 11* its going to be a little chilly.
South Texas here we've been preparing in case we lose power. Last Christmas everyone got sleeping bags. I've purchased extra wool blankets to share with neighbors. We have a fireplace and have wood stocked up as well as our generator that runs on propane or gas. I'm concerned for those that haven't been preparing.

Winter sleeping bags, wool blankets, thick quilts, several blankets, all make a huge difference. Dressing in layers, keeping socks and shoes on, and a hat during the day sure helps, wearing a knitted hat to bed is alright. Old pictures from storybooks show adult men wearing such as part of their bedtime attire. Dress all children warm in layers, keep baby's head covered in a wooly hat. Keep an eye on the elderly and any handicapped too. Warm soup or hot chocolate can help warm people up. Hot water bottles are great too, place them inside a t.shirt or towel.

Yes we lived through the snowmagedon in Texas. Luckily, we live in an emergency power grid between a fire station and a water tower so we never lost electricity or gas, but our daughter and her husband had no electricity on their farm. Their water also froze. We lived too far away for them to come here. They had to haul water to their farm for all their animals several times a day as it would freeze quickly. Their pipes burst under their trailer and had to be repaired after things thawed out. They ended up selling the farm last year and gave up on it. We purchased solar generators just in case it happens again.

If the power is out how are the stores going to be open without electricity you won't have to worry about buying anything

I just checked here by Houston Texas they're saying Thursday night it should be 17 and the wind chill by Friday 🥶 will feel like 4 .
Which is better then Dallas but still not good.
The weather guy was saying he didn't think we'd have the same issue as in 2021 because that was due to ice storms but who knows.
And today has been rainy , cold and dark….just nasty weather.
I'm ready for spring 🥶🥶🥶
