I’m sorry your missing the entire west coast. Oregon and Washington are freezing and being soaked on the daily. We’ve got a huge storm coming starting on the 22 with ice rain, snow, wind, temps in the teens. We came to Calif for an early Christmas and it’s been bitter cold the entire time.
Heading home into the storm on Thursday.
I have kids traveling back from Arkansas to Ohio on Thursday. I have talked myself blue in the face trying to get them to come back on Wednesday but they won't! So I sure have been watching the forecasts and they are going to running hopefully right in front of this storm and I am praying they get home unfrozen O : If anybody wants to join in my prayers you are welcome to do so. This grandma will be watching this storm all the way.

I'm topping off my preps later on today because the storm is expected to hit the new England states on Thursday night.
It's suppose to get down to ZERO Thursday night. Temps on Friday and Saturday will be down to 7 degrees. This is highly unusual for this time of year in middle TN.

This could not come at a worse time for me. My boss is flying to Colorado on Christmas morning and I'm staying at their house with their dogs. Of course this means that I won't be at MY house….so here's the plan:
Cover all of my veggie garden securely and pray….pray a LOT!
Shut my water main to my house off and bleed the lines at the faucets inside & outside, leaving those faucets in the "open" position so if there is any water that didn't come out, it has somewhere to "expand to."
It's scary to not be home when this all goes down. I live in Southeast Louisiana….we rarely get this kind of cold. We have exposed pipes outside. Scary stuff…..remember Texas?

Hit here already in N.Idaho. It reminds me of all our old winters. We have been pretty spoiled through the years but also remember what needs done. I just pray my pipes don't freeze. I'm 62 and remember when we had to crawl out upstairs window to get out. My poor father had to wear snow shoes to get to the highway to go to work. He also was a lineman and we rarely saw him for awhile when these storms would hit. I don't know if I feel like laughing or crying right now. Please stay safe everyone.♥️

Today I'm bringing in some more propane bottles and 1 tank to the house. Then getting my Little Buddy set up and ready to use. I just pray we don't lose power. If I was 20 yrs younger, everything would be a little easier to do 😊

They've named the storm Elliott bomb cyclone. Coming to Ohio on Thursday. What a drag. Possible limbs of big trees falling on houses, frozen pipes, ice dams. And freezing inside house. And possible power outages in below zero weather w/wind gusts.
At least I've got Buddy heaters. And have been sectioning off the house with thick plastic using painter's tape. Will shut the upstairs off, sleep on couch. I dread this so bad. A little scared.
