Gardening Masterclass: Growing Rooted Vegetables

In this masterclass held in conjunction with Community Garden Edibles Competition 2021 and Gardeners’ Day Out, we go ‘underground’ to look at some of the rooted vegetables that can be grown easily in Singapore! Many of these rooted vegetables such as sweet potato, tapioca, yam, and ginger are common vegetables that we eat locally, and they can actually be propagated easily.

Learn which species of rooted vegetables can be grown by various methods, and how to care for them as Wee Foong (Centre Director/Seed Bank, Deputy Director/Nursery Management) takes you through this edibles masterclass.

  1. Wow i can really see the presenter's passion and wealth of experience. Although not a gardener, it has been really entertaining. Keep up the amazing work NParkSG!

  2. How to competition? Where our AP plot got no fence or CCTV… even newly AP at yishun, fruit le, kena stolen. Minister Do something!!!!

On the other hand, potential competitor are mainly CG. RC/CC plot.

Free plot to grow, can bring home own harvest, got fence n cctv …

AP leh? We pays… no fence, no cctv… want to plant fruiting plant, also got ppl steal.

I think is unfair. Hope Mrs Indrani Raja can do something for the allotment-gardens plot….

So we can invest more on our crops and show more better yield for future competition.

Imagine if member of AP sign up for the competition, tomorrow competition, tonight kena stolen.

    So how?

Lastly, most award are CG. Non are AP. Why?

So this competition are solely for CG and NOT AP…

So why bother to build more AP then. 🙁

  3. Same here at hortpark, fruits, soil, and fertiliser were stolen often. Security at the park needs to improve. Set up more cctv will definitely help. Police and park officers can also take action when we file a case.
