The DISAPPOINTMENT Of Pokémon's New Region Designs

This is a sequel to my video “the rise and fall of Pokémon’s region design” this time we are analyzing and critiquing the regions of pokemon Legends Arceus and Pokémon Scarlet And Violet (Hisui, Paldea) while not using the Embarrassing Pokémon scarlet and violet glitches and bugs because they are not the only issue with these games and I hope you enjoy!

  1. Absolutely agree that these games need more time in development. IMO since leaving handheld devices, and entering 3D heavy game assets, Pokemon games need to released less frequently. Five years minimum esp. for something like Pokemon interacting with each other and more attention to the NPCs.

  2. I’m still genuinely convinced that pokemon scarlet and violet is a social experiment to find out just how bad they can make a game and have people still buy it.

  3. I hope gamefreak is proud of making a game that genuinely looks worse than goat simulator

  4. I decided not to get Scarlet and Violet because the aesthetic overall was bland as fuck to me. The starters were very uninteresting, continuously leaning toward the Hana Barbara route with their final forms. The MC customization also looked lame as hell. You're a UK school kid with slight variations, just boring. I also got super frustrated with pokemon ever since Arceus came out so close to Sword/Shield. While I was STILL trying to beat sword/shield at my own pace, where I don't fucking rush through it, I like to explore stuff, and sometimes play another game every once in awhile; a sworld/shield dlc, D/P remake, and arceus were released. And everyone was saying "Arceus is what you should be playing, no other pokemon, pokemon should be like this now." LET ME PLAY MY FUCKING GAME IN PEACE lol. I may get the d/p remake sometime down the line because it's the one I haven't actually played and my favorite started chimchar is in it. Otherwise, I'm done with pokemon. I'm not some psycho speedrunner endgame metahoe who wants to win all the ranked tournaments. I prefer enjoying the journey of pokemon.

  5. loved your last video about the pokemon regions and loved this one too. you're so right about how there's just no time for the proper development to go into these games and that they're just so half done & keeping your criticism to only comparing to what the old games used to have. love your videos 🤟

  6. After playing Sword, i have been hesitating on if i should buy scarlet/violet. I see greater looking pokémon and promise but seems to me its missing something.

  7. At 14:17 you wrote "BEEP"s. I am obligated to ask if you have played Kenshi? I would love to see a video with your perspective.
Please keep up the great work. Thank you. 🙂
Edit: Wanted to add that I love the atmosphere you create. Really great.

  8. Can you please make a video about hajime no ippo it makes the testosterone flow like no other anime before

  9. Was about to think I shouldn't get this game ……. But then I heard that Area Zero music

  10. Area Zero blew me away, the end fight not even included. It and it’s ost seemed like it came from a different franchise, with the ost Truly making it a remarkable area

  11. I wish he would stay at 100k so he could talk to us more frequently, but I can't be selfish and I hope he grows to be a well known YouTuber. We love you pitstop, I appreciate your videos everytime a new one comes out. I'm going through a breakup and your video the first ten minutes made me laugh. I truly thank you so much for your videos and hard work.

  12. as much as i hate it, gamefreak is probably going to remain this way to 'not encourage trespassing' or some random bullshit corporate reasoning for why not to let you walk into buildings – even though there are plenty of ways to make content in the towns that they've already done in the past that circumvent that

  13. Gamefreak’s problem is that Pokémon is just too big and they have to release too many games within a short timeframe of each other. Games like Breath of the Wild took 7 years and Zelda doesn’t have to make annual releases to stay fresh.

  14. Found this channel in part 1 about a month before sv released couldn’t wait for this video thank you for the amazing content

  15. The sentiment that if SV weren't buggy they'd be the best pokemon games seems pretty universal, but the region itself is the biggest reason why I don't believe so even if they weren't technical embarrassments. Yeah a lot of the cities are pretty, but outside the gyms pretty much nothing going on. Now not EVERY city in every region was a banger, but objectively every previous game had more going on in the cities still beyond visuals. Off top of my head, Kanto had Pewter's museum and Saffron's Silph co plus Fighting dojo. Johto you wisely use Ecruteak as a shining example but then there's Golden Rod with the radio tower and iirc starting the "big city with a dept store" trend plus Blackthorn has the dragon's den. Hoenn had Lavaridge hot springs, everything about Slateport, the space center in Mossdeep. Sinnoh is where I think they start going off in pretty much every town/city and giving something special to every single one, Unova just does that but on steroids, Lumiose alone does the job for Kalos, Alola as well has many cool locations in various cities/towns like the wrestlemania stadium, the hotel Kahili's family owns, you can straight up visit Olivia's house in one town lol. Even Galar has a couple. Amd coming hot off another great example in Hisui, what's up with Paldea slackin here? I suppose that was to focus more on the school? Who can say.

Even being out and about in the world feels dull compared to previous games. I think sidelining the things that make pokemon routes and cities in exchange for being able to call it "open" isn't a worthwhile trade. I get this gen was rushed to high heaven, but sheesh. There's no patch solving this problem, we're stuck with Paldea just having pretty to look at but nothing really in them citie which can really help to elevate an experience with this genre. Shame.

  16. I wouldn't want the catching mechanic to return unless they found something more compelling to do with it than the research tasks of Legends. It made sense for the Pokemon Go-esque mechanic to be there because you were expected to catch many of the same Pokemon for filler documenting the species. But since S/V uses the normal Pokedex where you just catch one of them, the dex would get filled way too quickly if you could just crawl up behind a Tyranatar and throw a ball at its back and be done with it.

  17. As always Spittin straigh facts! Criticism that comes from a place of love and affection for the franchise that has changed all of our lives.

  18. The development of pokemon games looks even worse when you realize that almost every single develeper that worked in arceus.. Also worked in scarlet/violet.

Not, even like a year apart from one another… That's just scary.

  19. I think another big thing that's holding these games back is a lack of workforce. I can't remember where I saw it, but some other youtuber did some research on the development team, and compared to a lot of other triple A games, Scarlet and Violet had a tiny fraction of the numbers. Way less developers, plus way less time too. I feel like it wouldn't be that big of an issue for Game Freak to hire more developers, and maybe even divide their workforce up along with that to create different teams that focus more on different aspects. Of course, this plus more development time would definitely make the games far more impressive, and would definitely allow the studio to capitalize on what's already good, and iron out what's still bad.

  20. When i first got into area zero, i found a shiny venomoth which really boosted my experience tbh

  21. Dude. You rock!
