Covering and protecting plants from an extreme freeze. Talked some about cold hardy palms such as needle palms, windmill palms,. sabal minor and mule palms and what I do with them in winter. This was meant to be an informal vlog, I can and probably will re-edit this into a more concise video just about protecting hardy palms in the future.

Because we live in an older house we have mouse problems, we are getting it under control but when you live next to farm fields on three sides of you and mice want to come in for the winter months it can be a losing battle. Anyway the other morning I woke up and glanced over at my plants I saw a mouse butt sticking out of one of my self watering planters trying to get a drink. While it was hilarious I’m determined to get that mouse. At least their not digging in my plants this year, I bought a huge bag of cayenne pepper and sprinkled it on the soil of my plants, it’s working so far. But again I’m determined to get that little bugger. He was there again this morning but I turned the pot so it’s watering hole was to the edge of the plant stand and he couldn’t figure out how to get to it. Tomorrow I hope he will be in the trap, which I forgot to set last night. I spring the traps during the day so the fur babies don’t get hurt, but at night there’s no holding back unless I forget to set the traps. The few mice that we have left are really smart little buggers, but again I am determined! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄❄️💚🙃
Happy Holidays! I'm in the middle of a Blizzard. At least my power is back on. Our Christmas plans are canceled. Postponed until next week 🙂
We had a snow drift in our family room yesterday and somewhat this morning, no joke. I do have a curtain on the patio door but behind the curtain there was a pile of snow. We have duck taped the seal of the door so only a little has made it through. Did I mention that yesterday and today we have blizzard conditions here. Wind gusts reported to be in excess of 30 miles per hour, and reportedly 11 inches of snow but I don’t how how they can measure that with all of the wind. Our north south road is closed so we’re essentially snowed in.😵💫🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄❄️💚🙃
Oh speaking of garage doors we can’t find our, well we can but there’s no getting out anytime soon.🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄❄️💚🙃

Good luck with the cold weather. We brought in all our food tender plants (palms/cordylines) in the Seattle area a few days ago for the cold snap. The cold just past and plants are back out after a horrible ice storm yesterday. Thankful for the big warm Pacific Ocean that keeps us mild most of the winter.
