Looking good! Let me know how the garlic does, always wanted to try that! I harvested a ton of green beans they were so great, they had such a nice crisp snap bitting them. I have never had birds eat my plants, just my berries, and fruits! Rabbits, yes they can be a pest. But they have been good this year and usually we have a family with babies! Try using epson salt from dollar tree once a week, gives the plants a boost and rids of bugs! .?? How often do u have to water them, I find my pots dry out really fast, so I only do a few the rest in raised beds. You should try potatoes they are super easy! Does your lettuce taste bitter? Mine did so I gave up on it, I will let the rabbit have it lol. Great plants, can't wait to see the produce from them!

Great video. I just started container gardening . Do you poke holes in any of your containers to allow for drainage? Hope to see more videos as your plants become larger.
We read somewhere to keep birds away from tomatoes is to put out a birdbath . Whn they got after tomatoes they are really thirsty. Also put out a bird feeder. We have done this for 2 years now and it works. No birds in our garden. Hope this helps.
I use ammonia as an animal deterrent. Not the most natural, but it works. I soak a piece of ribbon in it and tie it on the fence of my garden. Keeps them out! Also, zucchini's grow really fast. They can get pretty big! I just harvested 3 in my garden. If you have a deer problem, shiny, sparkly things keep them away. I have wind chimes that I use to keep them out. Deer will jump fences (usually 5 feet or less) to get to gardens. Are you growing dinosaur kale? I think I might grow that next year. The kale that I'm growing this year is getting eaten by bugs. ;( Good luck on your garden! Keep me posted!!
I had rain barrels in my other house and it was great for my garden, you can find some on craigslist and it is much better for your plants since rain water is better for your plants than sink water and cheaper, we attached them to the gutters and put a piece of screen so the leaves won't go into the barrels, checkout youtube for more info on rain barrels 🙂

We planted 6 tomato plants this year and one died. I'm excited for the rest of them though! Maybe next year we can add another vegetable or maybe some herbs.

I don't remember you mentioning where you live. I'm in NW Indiana and we have gold finches. I love them! They don't eat flowers nor tomatoes, only seeds. They love thistle seed. I don't have any birds in my area that eat tomatoes or flowers. Hope this helps. Good luck gardening! I'm an avid gardener. 🙂

You mean a rain barrel? Get an oak one, if using natural, … Or a dark colored polyethylene if you want, because both will help to keep algae growth to a minimum, …

Actually, you've done a very good job … for a new gardener, you're doing fine. It can only go up from here … have fun. P.S. leave lots of clean water around for the birds and they won't go after your tomatoes.
I just heard that the birds will eat a tomato for the water content, so have a water source near your tomato and the birds will leave them alone. Try it. I am going to.
be careful on what you plant in plastic containers. Unless it's food grade plastic, it will release toxins into the soil which the garden plants will pick up and it will make the veggies and fruit have a bitter flavor. Wood and metal containers are better for fruits and veggies.
Marigolds are no longer bred for their horrible smell. Unfortunately, because they no longer have that horrible smell, they no longer are effective for animal deterrant.
most garden centers have a lightweight mesh roof that is meant to deter birds. it is often used on raspberry and blue or blackberry crops.

Are the rabbits pets or varments?If varments catch and rabbit stew or relocate the cuddly creatures.Very nice garden!

I use my empty green city trash container to catch some of the rain water. It's easy to move around if it doesn't get too full.
If it does fill up I reduce the weight by removing some water with an empty bucket.
