  1. neem oil is definitely an organic choice but like most pesticides , homemade or not , they are broad spectrum & will kill beneficial insects as well as pests , not saying don't use it cause if you have a pest problem you need to do something to try & control any infestation , if you work on plant health from the start pest & pathogen pressure will decrease , pests & pathogens won't go away just be possibly manageable , the best line of defence from the start is healthy soil biology = feed the soil & let the biology feed your plant ,

consistent moisture = not over watering or under watering will keep the soil dwellers happy , use compost or worm castings as soil inoculums of biology , prefer homemade because you'll be adding indigenous microorganisms , organisms that already speak your soil dwellers language in your backyard , rather than a bagged product from where ever its made ,

side note Aloe Vera inner gel will work as a emulsifying agent for oils like neem , it has a compound called saponins , also found in higher concentrations in soap nuts , that will work as a pesticide along with the neem oil that it will emulsify for you , Aloe also has a number of naturally occurring plant growth regulators that will increase plant heath in the same way kelp will , having aloe in the garden has many benefits including letting you leave dishwashing liquid under the sink in the kitchen , in saying that a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid ain't that bad 🙂
