Damage in the Garden from the Arctic Freeze | Gardening with Creekside

Last week an Arctic storm swept through the country with frigid temperatures and high amounts of snow. While we did not get the precipitation, we did experience abnormally low temperatures and high winds. With those conditions, we had multiple plants that sustained damage, some of which were more severe than others. Join me as we take a garden tour of the damage and hear how we are going to handle it.

  1. I have learnt so much from you all this year and because of you I have tried so many new things and spent a couple thousand dollars on plants, potting mix, mulch, soil amendments you name it.👏
I hope you have a great new year🎉🎉 and I believe that 2023 will be as great or better than 2022.
Thankyou for sharing all your knowledge and experience with us all 🥰👌👍
Keep up the great work.. love you guys. X

  2. We have Diamond Spire Gardenias planted on the north facing side of our house that we planted in September that did perfectly fine. They look the best out of the north facing plants.

  3. Miss jenny… i Did mention your channel to nicole.from flower hill farm channel coz she just starting to have her OWN nursery… Happy New Year….

  4. I have the same lavender plants. Mine got really large and I divided mine and then we got the horrible weather where we were -10 to -15 temps with -30 + windchills. They took it like a champ except for 1 of the smaller ones. And they were newly planted in the fall. I'm in zone 6 and it was worrisome but I think we may have survived it!

  5. Are Tea Olives and Eleangus in the same “family?” I have an Eleangus and it looks so much like your tea olives. And like your tea olives it has the small white flowers that smell good.

  6. We have “ micro “ climates in our gardens ! Some areas always do better then others!
I have gardened in the North , mid Atlantic and now the South and plants are tougher then you think ! I enjoy your channel – Happy New Year!🎉

  7. I'm surprised with all the burlap bags you have . Why didn't you put them over your containers. In Michigan if you have arborvitae they have to be wrapped in burlap to keep the deer from eating them. Especially if the snow gets too deep for them to find food. The Agave will survive my mom's is in ohio it comes back every year. She does nothing to it.

  8. I have hope for your loropetalum. I'm growing one in zone 6b and it looks like that every year coming out of winter, but always flushes back come spring.

  9. I think most of the plants will rebound perfectly! Plants, thankfully, are so much more resistant than we think! Happy New Year everyone! Much love from Greece!

  10. I’ve grown hellebores for years. Just cut them back to the ground & they’ll come right back. 👍
