  1. Have you seen tower gardens? They are cool but super expensive. Looking on YouTube I found how to make your own. It looks super simple. Your planter is much better looking. I'm going to have to check them out.

  2. Those planters are so cool daniel from arms family homestead likes them too. I DON'T KNOW WHEN COLE AND NAVA BIRTHDAY'S ARE BUT THEY LOOK LIKE THEY COULD USE ONE!!! thanks for doing the rainwater to water your garden video. i just finished my video about that too please check it out. you may like the coupler and hose i put on it, it may work pretty good on yours to.

  3. Summer, my husband plants our cucumbers in a watering trough that is usually used to water farm animals. He built a mesh tower for them to grow up and put the trough up on blocks so we don't have to bend down to pick them! He put tomato plants and sweet corn in canvas bags and potatoes in storage tubs. (The big round ones from Walmart with the rope handles) Strawberries are in flower pots. Green, red and yellow peppers and some other tomato plants are in 5 gallon buckets. His garden has become the landscaping around our back porch! He absolutely loves researching all kinds of things for his gardening. His newest bit of information he has used is putting fish emulsion on his plants. They have doubled in size! He even used some on his mom's flowers and they perked right up!
    Happy gardening!

  4. I'd like one of those towers for herbs and allysum. I'm not sure in our area if there would be enough room for anything else. We live in zone 6b so we have plenty of time for plants to get quite a root system. I tried planting tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets, but the became rootbound midseason with tons of tomatoes on them and they died. Now I plant in empty mineral tubs that we get from a cattle rancher, and I get tons of tomatoes right up to our first hard frost. I used to plant in just the potting mix, but now I mix that in equal parts with well rotted cow manure and peat moss. It increased our crop production almost double. We also plant cucumbers and squash in the mineral tubs. They need lots of room for roots.

Take lots of notes, and keep a journal. Gardening is a lovely journey, and you'll find that journaling helps you refine your technique year after year. We can all garden and once we learn what works and what doesn't, we can raise a tremendous amount of food.

God bless you and remember, God made man in a garden. You're never unhappy when you're growing something.

  5. Hi, new Sub here … I checked out yout channel when I saw this video b/c I just ordered a similar system (product) last week, should arrive this week : ) … seeing your video really helped to know – how to go about it when it arrives … Thank-you ! All the Best & I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos : )

  6. Love the idea about a reusable bag. I've used old tires and washing machine barrels as well as buckets and baskets and anything else I can put soil into lol I still have yet to get a green stalk but I also have 2 huge gardens that need my attention haha. Keep it up! Food is life and your doing a great job with your garden.

  7. I love All your garden ideas & Plants 🌱 Summer it’s beautiful 😍 Green-stalk is The to go 🌱

  8. I’ve done the dollar store laundry baskets before using weed fabric to line them. My garden grew fantastic. I was only able to use the containers 1 year though. It didn’t cost much being dollar store baskets but I didn’t like the waste it produces , being the broke down after only a year.

  9. I am so excited about the greenstalk growing system! I just ordered a 3-tier system for my granddaughters! I need it to be short for them. Plus I got the mover and the vine support thingy. Lol. Can hardly wait!

  10. Terrific ideas, Summer, and a great demonstration video. You sparkle, dear girl and I enjoy watching 'your garden grow' and home bloom. A word of caution for that beautiful diamond ring. This comes from years and years of experience with working outside and in; with gardens, building projects, children and pets…just be extra careful. One good bump or if it's loose, a little one, can send that gorgeous stone flying. I learned the hard way. I got used to wearing my gold band and loved wearing my diamond ring for special. Hugs.

  11. More than half of those plants need more space and Will suffer I that green stalk. Good luck though.

  12. Cole just plugged your channel! I’m so delighted to subscribe because I know your content is right down my ally! This was sooo informative! Thanks for sharing! BTW- I love your name!

  13. Wow, love this tower of containers. Have always done container/planter gardening since my yard is all concrete. Had never seen this idea before and now want several.

  14. Summer When your planting something from seed you really need to put it in a seporate tray because they need a lot of water so they can germinate properly.

  15. please check out you tube tomato pails that are self watering , I have two and get more tomatoes that I can use, they work great and are inexpensive !

  16. You will have to keep us posted on this vertical garden. I am most intrigued. I don't have space for a traditional garden but this would be ideal, so I'll be anxious to see how it performs. I live east of you in Cedar Rapids. Mine would be on a 2nd story deck. I wonder about strong winds potentially blowing it over. Thoughts?? Thx!!

  17. Your videos are great. You don't fill them with endless narrative-only time. When you're talking, you're showing and/or doing. Makes for much more interesting watching. Keep up the good work! 👍🙂

  18. We own a landscape and maintenance business out here in California. We like watching your family improve the landscape around your houses. Your properties are so large, a leaf blower is in need.
They have multiple jobs they can perform, blow out gutters, make fast work of cleaning up around your garden boxes and barn floors.
Thank you for sharing these videos. 🙂 God bless!

  19. It’s usually a good idea to give any plants you just replant a pretty good water the first few days..after that the drip system should be great ….probably need to fill every day for sure ….very cool design.
I have a bad back so I would be planting one , add an empty layer then plant that one over and over till all done .
You young , capable , strong women usually don’t have to worry about that 😂😂😂unless pregnant or postpartum, then please be super careful not to strain yourself .👍 love your videos , so lovely to have another family loving , decent and sweet young woman to watch go through some of her life 🙂 hugs from Western Australia 🇦🇺

  20. When planting Tomatoes, pinch off all but the top row or two of leaves and bury the whole stem within an inch of the ‘new’ bottom row of leaves. You will have stronger plants and more roots to absorb water.

  21. Good morning Summer, I LOVE ❤❤ the garden system your using !!!!! Am gonna get me 1 or 2👍🏻👍🏻 thank you for sharing Be safe God bless you ✌

  22. Summer I am a subscriber to you and Coles sights and really enjoy them your energy levels are awesome. When things you do videos on are really interesting. I hope you and your family keep doing videos. God bless you all

  23. Summer, just a cautionary comment, not telling you how to do your plantings. A squash plant gets 4 foot wide and 3 to 4 foot tall. you might need a different place for it as well as your cabbage plant. I know you have seen a head of cabbage, 8 inches or so, well they have outer leaves surrounding that 8 inch head another 6 to 8 inches all the way around, it would also be better in you raised bed garden. Love your videos. thanks. MiChelle

  24. Hi Summer, which kit did that spinning base come with? I'm not finding it on their site. Thanks.
