Front Yard Garden

Easter Garden Front Yard Tour

Hurry! Walk around the front yard with me and Stewart before all of the tulips blow away in this unrelenting wind! Look at its progress, and see how much things have grown in a very short period of time. Before we know it, the heat will sit in and the tulips in Pansies will be done. Let’s enjoy it while we can! #tulips #springgarden #frontyard

  1. Happy Easter, Linda! I'm on the cusp of 7A and B, kind of a microclimate at the top of a hill. I can't plant tulips because of my severe deer problem, but over the years I've planted thousands of daffodils that have naturalized in my yard. And I know this is a no-no, but when they're done blooming and the flower heads are drying up, I mow them completely down. They still come back, although over the years I've noticed that they begin to lose their pigment a bit, but they still seem healthy and hardy. Whenever you talk about the wind, I always think about the title song from the musical Oklahoma!, with the wind sweeping down the plain and the waving wheat 💚

  2. Received your book last week and just love it. Learning so much from it. Love your style of writing.

  3. Hi Linda. Thank you for all your great tricks and tips. I enjoy watching you. I learn so much! I am in London, Ontario Canada Zone 5b. Love you!

  4. Linda, I just found your channel and in love with your gardens! I am in Tulsa and it is wonderful to find another Oklahoma gardener resource. Over the last year I have completely redone the beds around my house (in yellow and purple theme with a hint of white). I still have room to add things and after watching your videos I may want to expand them once again 😄I'm subscribing and now going to binge watch your videos!

  5. Zone 6b SE Michigan, my tulips remain solid for about two full weeks. Do you replant the spent bulbs from the compost pile in the fall, or buy new bulbs? Your garden is so beautiful just like you!

  6. I'm in zone 5. It depends on the tulip cultivar. Queen of the Night will go for many years for me and naturalize. Also parrot varieties come back for me.
Tulips need cold to do well, so your zone could also be too warm from year to year.
Sarah Raven is in a similar zone and she has a video of Tulips that naturalize for her on her YouTube.

  7. I garden in Zone 6a i plant my bulbs around hostas, ferns, peonies, and poppies, that way when the bulbs are browing the other perienials are growing over them. When they are done i will clean up under the summer perienials. And yes they do come back but i do need to replace them after the 2nd or 3rd year for the tulips.

  8. Loved your front garden tour! Absolutely gorgeous. I've been thinking about adding some creeping flox to my beds. How long does it bloom? I'm in zone 7b. Thanks for sharing!

  9. Memphis 7b. Usually my tulip show lasts 2 months, but it was cut a bit short this year bc heavy storms with more than typical winds took out most of the Mid/late spring blooming bulbs last week.

  10. Wow, it is windy there! 🥃 I saw you in the BH&G magazine the other day, Linda. Your garden looks amazing!!! 😍

    Stuart speaks.Yay!

  11. Hi Linda! My bulbs haven't even bloomed yet, except 4 a little Crocus & Hyacinth. I live in Central NY Zone 5. We're supposed 2 get 3-5" of snow 2nite in2 2mro😬 I'm so happy I waited 2 clean my garden, most everything is still insulated w the blanket of leaves I covered them with.

  12. I was so excited for you when I opened up the better homes and garden and saw you in it. 👏 I would love to have some of the Hellebores. I can’t get them anywhere in Tyler Texas. Everything looks beautiful. Hi Stewart 👋

  13. I lost a bunch of my ajuga this year. Totally bummed and not sure what happened…its starting to come back but at a fraction of what it was last year. Zone 5.

  14. Beautiful Easter tour thank you. I'm in zone 4b Minnesota this year a late spring and cold. Tulips planted from ColorBlends are up about 3" should start blooming first of May.

  15. Oh my goodness, how GORGEOUS your front gardens look!! As usual, I am taking time out of packing, hauling things to the Goodwill, running by the reno, and running to Lowe's for last-minute items! A funny side note, we have been to Lowe's so much that we walk in and are now on first-name bases with the guys in the kitchen, floors, and bathroom departments…LOL! This morning, I gave myself a break and have climbed back in bed, coffee in hand, to watch your vlog and enjoy the beautiful flower "show"! This did not disappoint!! The colors and shapes and variety in your landscape are just BREATHTAKING! I get so inspired and I can't wait to begin a new adventure at our new place! Oh, and I just got my GARDEN GATE magazine and can't wait to read your article on topiaries! Thank you Linda and Stewart for a WONDERFUL "windy" WALKABOUT! What a GREAT way to start my day! Much love and blessings….

  16. Linda, I am a fellow 7B SE OK gardener and I have the hardest time identifying friendly seedlings vs early weed seedlings. Do you have any tips?

  17. It's amazing how far apart growing seasons are! I am 5b in New England and our area is just seeing the green of tulip leaves, daffodils are just starting to open and many of the plants you are showing in bloom are mere specks of green popping through the soil. Being in a new home, I am just learning about my new gardens, but I can already tell there are a few naughty invasive plants I am going to have to scold. Thank you for bringing us regular content and reminding me blooms will be showing soon. Hugs from Linda in New England.

  18. I always follow you for garden tips since I live in Oklahoma and love your videos.
The first thing I noticed is your skin looks glowing and beautiful!! Would love to know your skin care routine. Also love your haircut!! Beautiful yard and person as always. Thank you. 💚🌱

  19. I saw you on the Home and Garden's Magazine this month! I'm a big fan and loved finding your article there!

  20. Zone7b 🙋🏽Hi Mrs.LV, my tulips lasted for about 4 weeks, but the wind kinda “kicked” them over. Love your tulips, makes me smile! 🙏🏽❤

  21. I love the videos and just discovered your channel. I wish they were about half as long, but that is just me.
