How to start a garden at home! We are starting our garden in February. I show you how to start seeds indoors using plastic baggies. Germinating our seeds before planting will give us a head start before putting them in our raised garden beds! We start seeds in a milk jug and show you how we are starting our garden as beginners and first-time gardeners! I also show you our DIY cheap compost bin for beginners. If you have any recommendations or feedback please let me know! Can’t wait to share the progress. Follow me on Instagram for daily updates! @alliejcurtin
#GoingOffGrid is hard work, but it will be so worth it! We could not do this without the help of our family and friends! Since May we have been renovating this abandoned cabin and turning it into our full-time home! We are moving into our #oneroomcabin ! We still have a lot of renovations to do but it is almost complete! #cabinrenovation #movingoffgrid #offgridhomes #livingoffgrid #cabintour #cabinhomes #offgridsolar #goingoffgrid #cabinmakeover

Growing up together as high school sweethearts, we got married at 19 in August of 2016. We have always dreamed of a life of adventure! We started traveling the US any free weekend we had, finding free campgrounds wherever we could, and even converting our truckbed into a home for three weeks to make the trip across the country. After 4 years of college and 2 corporate jobs, we decided this typical lifestyle is not for us. Because of RONA, our jobs let us work remotely full time and so we decided to take the leap. We started this #goingoffgridvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but hope to share helpful tips along the way! We have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to be able to jump into this lifestyle. 🙂

Am I really the first comment!! Wow!!
Hey Allie you're starting plants to early if your plans are putting them in a garden for KY. Love watching you and your journey.
Check the old farmers almanac planner for your zip code.
Love the gardening, beware that seeds from hybrid fruits and veggies you purchase at the store may not produce fruits or veggies. Avocados need a male and female plant to produce fruit. Costco is a great place to get bulbs. Looking forward to your harvest. Love the doggie neck warmer best thing ever. Lastly I will forgive you being a Steelers fan, I am originally for the Bay area (CA) GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're really inspiring me to start a garden this year!
I think I will likely write directly on the bag for the seeds; I always have issues with post-it notes falling off, lol.
The only thing I wish I had done was plant an apple tree. Then free apples for life.
Heyy allie
I start my seeds in an egg carton. I cut off the top to use as a tray.
Did you ever find the spinach???? Haha I love your videos. Subscribed!
Hey Allie, you can also sprout the avocado by placing the seed In a shallow cup of water about half way up the seed. This works well for me. Good luck
The makeup suits you very much, you should wear it more often. All due respect. 🙂
You should def get Farmers Almanac. You can find it at grocery store or Lowes. Great resource.
Watch Stivers homestead very helpful
How will you keep the rabbits, deer, etc out?
the little filing cabinet for the seed packets is too cute!! I can't wait till I have a place where I can have my own garden, I'm sure it will be hard work but fun! Excited to see your harvest 🙂
Definitely recommend an old farmers almanac and ask around about farmer's markets in your area. Great resources on growing in ky. You'll learn so many helpful tips and tricks. We have had many cold March's and even April's so check into that! You'll likely plant the garden in May for much of your plants. I admire your enthusiasm and drive to live off grid and self-sustain! 🙂
The lilies are beautiful but beware that they are highly toxic for dogs ❤
Do you grow potatoes?
When do you grow tomatoes?
Avocados are difficult. They need male and female plants. And even when they produce fruits, 99from hundred taste very bad. Use another method. Take a branch from a tree which produce good tasting fruits. Cut yours down and stick them together. Voila you have a good producing avocado tree.
Save egg shells to sprinkle on top of the garden to detract birds
