Kristina is a structural engineer who designed and helped build this off-grid passive solar home with solar panels, solar hot water heaters, rainwater collection, a composting toilet, and a greywater garden. It’s a pretty impressive and functional Earthship inspired home and she lives here with her partner Matt in Colorado.

Absolutely amazing beautiful and very sustainable.
So moved and totally in love with your home.
This was so neat. Very informative. I drream of someday moving out into the forest and building a home similar to this one. 💗Thank you for sharing! Have a great year all.
Love it 💕
Wow! So, so impressive. Very well done, so clever 🙂
Awesome. Although I did think it was funny when she said water is precious and then cut to a big bathtub 😂
You have built a beautiful home. I hope you have many more enjoyable years in it.
What would you do different if you were to build again?
Does anyone have any resources related to build costs of sustainable homes? I'm curious how accessible this is for people who don't own a home, or have the income to afford a home (which many young people around the world cannot).
Very cool Earthship, I say that as it has all 6 principles of them and its clear she studied them and used Mike's philosophy on building this beautiful home. I love all the little personal touches she did to make it her own and unique!
Hi 👋. You just came up on my feed & I am soo impressed with what you have done ! So of course I had to Sub & will find your beginning journey to follow. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Absolutely beautiful
Full size dream life
Cool.
This is so impressive. Can you tell us more about the carbon filter?
You should find and area on the downhill side of the road to build a catchment for winter precipitation, and be able to snow plow snow to where it will melt and collect water there. They now have vertical bladeless wind turbines for residential homes that require minimal wind and would provide additional power, especially when winter storms make the solar panels ineffective.
I love the mostly sustainable design and the aesthetic outside garden spaces you have, just don't like those harsh winters. I live in a far less wintry environment, but I'm incorporating a large 2 story greenhouse onto the backside of my house to maintain large tropical fruit trees (citrus, bananas, etc.) that produce fruit in or too close to winter.
Absolutely amazing!

This is not a home 🏠,, it’s an Empire,, you grow your own food, all organic,, you are independent, you breath the fresh air ,, and you have time for yourself,,, and at the end, you enjoy the most important thing,, / Your Freedom!!!! I greet you from Austria 🇦🇹!!!!
Wow this is so fantastic, it’s great in every way! Well done
So lovely and inspiring ! Thank you for sharing their story with us 🤗
Fabulous, we love it! Would move in in a heartbeat 😍😍 If only the UK planners would look more kindly on such constructions…
I like the Idea, but I would add at least small wall greenhouse and I would need much more power.
I love how the concept is tailored to the location. Many thoughts went into water saving and preservation. Also, the simplicity of the layout is great as well as the energy-efficiency of course.
Such an inspirational video I would absolutely love to build something similar. Thank you for designing, building and posting this video.
i'm so excited to check out her book and website, i plan on starting a hobby farm in northern michigan this summer and first step is building my cob home! i love when your videos include resources like this <3
Beautiful home and story!
Awesome vision you have! Have you had any issues with the composting toilet, such as smell? How often do you need to empty it?
You have a wonderful house, love the concept, great work
Lovely home but I especially love the outdoor space. Thanks for showing us!
These should be standard building practices everywhere it is possible, we waste so much water flushing that toilet…..
Gorgeous! I love these type homes! You did a fantastic job! Was wondering about the flat roof and snow. Especially the one scene with ALOT of snow. Is that an issue with such a flat roof? Do you have to get up there often during the winter to get it off?
It’s great you are allowed no septic as well. As you just can’t build everywhere like this with all the codes and restictions.
Some codes are rediculous. In FL you can’t be off grid. They push and encourage solar, but you still have to be connected to the grid. Makes no sense. Just the research for land alone to do this is exhausting-with codes.
I could easily live there! It’s perfect.
Wow! Very inspiring and amazing
What a lovely couple. Thank you for sharing your home. ❤️
Our current housing structures are designed to enslave us….this type of housing structure is freedom at its finest!!!
here
good for you both! So well thought out an inspiring!
I love this home, and want to incorporate most of its features into my future home.
I live in Seattle on you're right about what you said plus there's millions of people live here it's frustrating the crime is horrible your place is beautiful
It is not as cheap as everyone would like to think, up front anyway. Long term savings for sure. Loong term.
The cost is the deterrent as well as the labor involved with getting there.
These homes are for long term sustainability. But they still rely on the "grid" for much of the materials that make them. You can tout the dirt you put into them, but what about the tires? The tools? The windows? The solar system? Etc…
Very nice little abode!! Great job, and very inspirational!!!!
This is fabulous, so inspiring will look up the resourses you menetioned thank you
Save America Quit voting Democrat
Do they have to clear all the snow off the roof so it doesn’t cave?
