Eggs in northern CA. 13 dollars for an 18 pack
Just had 20 pounds of Satsuma Oranges gifted to me again. Will be canning these also just as I did the first ones. I grow my lettuce in the greenhouse. My chickens help me eat it.
To the Point… Have extra Large deep sand box.. get good bags empty ones. Sand bags keep Harmful Projectiles from entering from Road side of the Home.
I have lived 30 miles from nowhere for years. My system for supplies had always been to have two on hand and when I use one I buy another. Usually shop once a month and sometimes go to dollar store for a loaf of bread.
It is a good idea to keep sand and natural charcoal on hand Incase you may need to filter water … Just sayin

My motto “one is none, two is one, six is a lot better”🥴🥴 Adding another shelving unit. Went to the Bishops Storehouse. They were fully stocked. The only thing that went up by more than $1 was the powdered milk. Got two 25 lb. bags of hard red wheat. The price had increased $1. Got more yeast at the store, it’s in the freezer. Added more salt and pepper. Walmart did not have one can of Great Value chicken. The shelf was empty. On to other things.

Our local food bank has stopped giving away cheese, milk and eggs. That's very unusual. Also because demand is up they are giving less and less each 2 weeks. It's down to about a 3 meal supply for 2 weeks. Based on 2 people. We are 8. So you see there's a problem.
I think it's important to calculate how much food you'll actually need to support a family. For 3 adults it will take 1620 servings to get through 6 months. You need a balanced diet. Consider getting #10 cans of freeze dried or dehydrated foods from Amazon or a company of your choice. Auguson Farms is good and Nutristore.

Several years ago, I started cutting up old tee shirts, worn out towels, sheets for wiping pads. Only use tp for #2 and this has cut down immensely on tp $. Also helps the septic tank. I also quit buying lettuce and growing sprouts in a quart canning jar, takes 3-5 days and sprouts are mega more nutritious than lettuce any day. To me, paying money for grocery store lettuce is a waste of money
