Great idea.. use water bottles for rice oats etc..
I don't live in America but I never throw plastic out anymore. If you buy plastic you have a responsibility to reuse it for some other purpose. If we cannot find a way to incorporate it into our own homes, how can we throw it out and expect Mother Nature to deal with it in her home?
I don’t know why they ever did away with bottle deposits. That would fix a lot of this. Jmho
I drink Sprite and 7-up and Fuji artesian bottled water that's P.H. balanced and orange juice and lemonade and Milk and Chocolate milk nutritional drink Boost or Ensure.
I haven't bought bottled water until now and that's to stock up. When I drink water, it's from the tap.
When covid hit they wouldnt ship berkeys to cali
Most bottled waters are bad. Fuji and eternal and icelandic are good
My employer uses Ozarka water in gallon jugs. Once they are empty, I bring them home, sterilize them, and fill them with filtered water. I currently have saved up about 2 months of filtered water for drinking, cooking, hygiene. I also collect rain water for clothes washing and showering.
I cannot stand seeing so much plastic thrown away and not reused for something else!
The bright side?
It takes me all week to fill up my kitchen trash can because kitchen scraps go into the compost and I don't throw away plastic….which means I use less garbage bags as well….AND I've got a nice stock of drinking water saved up 😁
I reuse all my water/soda bottles . I use them to freeze 🥶 milk and fruit 🍓 juice . As well as to store other stuff 🤗
I do use only filtered water due to the water in my town being so bad. Most people in my town have to have fancy filters to be able to use the tap water for anything. Most still won't drink or cook with it 🤷♀️
I filter my water for drinking and fill a reusable water bottle to bring water to work. Water in my town is so chlorinated I can smell it. My stomach complains if I drink it unfiltered.
Plastic bottles can be recycled into many useful things. They can even make clothing from plastic bottles. There is no reason to have discarded bottles. They should be recycled and turned into other products.
I'm giving away my age. But in my day, everything was glass.
In Oregon it’s ten cents for deposit and we just bag them up and put our code sticker on it and it goes on an account and you can use your account at Fred meyers , Safeway and a couple other stores and some stores give you a twenty percent off your grocery. We wait until there’s good buys on meat and spend it all on meat
Don't get me started. I think "recyling" is a huge fraud. It's all going into land fills and out in the environment. No plastic bags, but MILLIONS of k cups? And all the packaging? Makes me sick 😫.
Best not to put liquids in old plastic bottles because the plastic releases toxins and it is a really bad type of plastic. (Can recycle them in other ways tho.)
We refill 5 gallon jugs then fill our own reusable water 💧 bottles 🍼 😅
Buying water bottles is a waste of money & environmentally unhealthy
And they say they trust the government, those in power?yes, it is, most at least are aware of what is in our water .reuse yes, because they don't get recycled.
Chlorinated water comes out of the tap… no need for a baby bottle. Well Digger:
I keep bottled water on hand. I also have a pitcher that takes the chlorine and other nasty stuff out that isn't good for you. I hate being on recycled sewage city water. So gross and nasty. I would love to be able to go back to well water.
I don't keep a lot of bottled water actually. I get about a week's worth of jugs just in case but rain barrels and not a lot of snow this year to melt if needed. I'm nowhere near an ocean so it's not me.
💧💧💧Whoever came up with the idea of bottling waterside made huge piles of money, at the expense of many innocent critters, and at the expense of the environment.
All you need is a reusable water filter in the kitchen.
People carrying water bottles everywhere like a fashion statement.
I am sure there is running water anywhere we go within cities and towns, and we are not going to perish of thirst while we are on our way. At least use a reusable container.
🏜🏖🏝 Now if you are going on the highway, or into the desert, by all means take your drinking water along.
Where I am, there's some mission to collect the plastic bottle caps. I'm don't know what exactly they use them for right now, but I drop plastic caps off there and caps from friends who finish off their drinks so they become aware of this mission too.
There was a comparison some time ago that showed the American household put out 4 times the amount of trash that German households do. I had a little place with a garden attached so I could made small compost piles or simply buried biodegradable food cuttings and I was taking what little trash I had out once a week or sometimes even up to 10 days before I had to dispose of it. onsciously not buying excessively packaged goods, disposing of plastic to recycling and composting makes a big difference.
