BIG PLANS FOR THE SHED – there's a long way to go!

Today I venture into the shed to take a look at the state of play and talk about plans for the extension. Will it ever become the shed in my head?
Come and see how I get on in our organic, no dig garden in the centre of the UK!

  1. Love hearing your dreams for the extended shed. Hope they come true. The stained glass is really nice. Would really raise the tone of shed up to bijou residence. You need the lovely craftsmen on The Repair Shop. Love that programme. New sheds must be the thing this year. I am just beginning to investigate replacing mine. Look forward to seeing the progress

  2. Your cosy corner will be very welcoming on a dank, dark and wintery day. To cook a lovely omelet from the hens with fresh produce from the plot all washed down with a steaming mug of tea mmmmmm.
Perhaps a small glass fronted cupboard to store your cooking paraphernalia in would be handy to keep thing dust free and away from the gardening stuff – an old kitchen glass fronted wall cupboard me thinks 😁

  3. Love the idea's wish I could dream but we have so called travellers that would take all joy out of it (anything they can carry away)

  4. Exciting! I hope your renovations go well and you have the shed of your dreams!
My 'I'll just stuff this in here for now…' space is my laundry room. I need a reno too–or at least a good clean out. ; )
Best wishes on the shed and love the new channel name!!

  5. I think a veranda or at least a good roof overhang is a good idea as it can be used to si under but it will also help protect the door opening and the front of the shed helping to keep it all dry and safe

  6. Hello Love, What a great idea. Removing the glass and the wood from that wall you will probably find little if anything to reuse. If you gather up all the stained glass windows of all the shapes and sizes as well as any other windows you may have you can sketch out the size of the walls and see which windows might fit where. So if they can be built into the new walls in a rustic cottage style manner it could look real nice. Positioning the windows to be sure usable light comes in to where you might work on a table or read in a chair ect.
I have been a buyer and reseller of antiques and collectible items all my life. In the spring and summer I watch for the contractors that are replacing lots of windows on very old homes they have stacks of windows they have to pay to dispose of and will gladly give them away for free to save money. I would paint lots of garden colors and distress the paint and wood and put them for sale and make quite a bit of money. So if you find these you can incorporate lots of free material into your build and that is like money.
Anyway good luck to you I hope you have an amazing adventure! bye for now be safe

  7. Such an exciting project! Can't wait to see it developing. I love my little shed even though its not particularly big. But you've got scope there to really go for it! 😍 🌱 xx

  8. Ah! Yes that chair. I remember seeing you sitting in it when you first started your channel. Will there be a revival? It's not all bad inside. The clock still works! You didn't say about the leaking roof. You could replace some of it with clear sheets. It's surprising how much light this let's in. Whatever, you have my full support. Have fun!

  9. Really love your shed, and attitude. We have a old shed on our property and I can't decide whether it is worth attempting repairs (there are critters living inside…!!) or just tear it down and try to construct something new. I'm inspired by your videos. Best wishes on all these exciting renovations! 🌱☀

  10. Hi Jane, it is a great idea & look forward to seeing your progress, those lead windows are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing and take care 🙂

  11. Wow that round stained glass window is dreamy. Love your ideas for expansion. Our shed is a game of Tetris every fall when we pack away trellises, patio furniture etc. The stove seems like a great plan for a warm up and hot meal.

  12. Oh this is so exciting! You can make it really cosy inside. A veranda on the outside would be so lovely with potted plants, fairy lights some chairs with cushions, it will look magical in the hot summer evenings. 🏠 xx

  13. Hi Jane, Looking forward to it.
The hardest part will be getting the foundations for the extension sorted, then make the base at home if you can or pre cut at home and through bolt to the exist base.
    You'll fly it then.

  14. nice lots of ideas there and those stained glass windows look fab. am certain if you asked around on fb you could find someone local that fixes them up!
    soo many chairs lol!
thanks for sharing Jane and have a good week

  15. Wahoooo!!! Very exciting, Janie!! Those leaded glass windows… I’m swooning! It’ll be a proper gathering space! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at you ‘inspirational photo’ on the internet and longed for a rustic shed just like that… the verandas on it alone! Looking forward to your progress!! Xxx
