Held Jan 18 & 19, 2023 – US Biochar Initiative and NRCS Soil Health Division staff presented on this new biochar funding process and how Code 336 Soil Carbon Amendment Conservation Practice Standard (also Code 808) can be used to improve soil health and build soil carbon through application of biochar & compost.
This practice code pays for the purchase of biochar and for the installation. Amount of funding varies based on NRCS criteria which will be covered on Day 1.

Session 2 of 5 – Features – Ilana Cohen
After an introduction to the NRCS we settle in for a presentation and Q&A conversation with Ilana Cohen, a Natural Resource Specialist on the Financial Assistance Programs Division Policy Branch. She helps write and interpret national policy for some of NRCS’s popular conservation assistance programs, including the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and the Conservation Stewardship Program. Previously, she helped manage the National Landscape Conservation System and served as a geospatial data lead at the Bureau of Land Management.
