Iditarod 2019 Musher Rescue Halfway – Real Trail Footage Andy Pohl & Kale Casey Helping Two Mushers

Iditarod Rescue 2019 – Our True Story by Andy Pohl & Kale Casey

The footage speaks for itself. We were woken up by Mark Nordman with the request to find Swiss born musher Marcelle Fressineau and our friend and neighbor Emily Maxwell. As the only snowmachiners in Iditarod, the request was that we would head out back down the trail towards Ophir and find the mushers and dogs, bring them all food and comfort, and report back on their condition and plan for extraction. After setting out we run into Michael Baker and Alison Lifka mushing their teams to Iditarod checkpoint. One way or another we find the two mushers and help get the dogs moving smoothly and happily again to the checkpoint. The rest is history. We got a letter of appreciation from ITC. Their sweep machines had broken down outside of Rohn which happens to be documented in the opening scene of Part 2 located here: https://youtu.be/687LNtRSlsM
