I have to admit that I'm not really surprised that certain tools didn't cut. If a blade isn't razor sharp it's not going to cut hair very well. Scissors can sometimes still work when they're not super sharp because of the pressure they create, but even they can just fail at cutting if they're not sharp enough.
Oh my god that Sierra saw was my best friend growing up! I used it all the time for making forts and shit! I loved that thing❤

As someone who gardens, I can tell you why a lot of those tools did not work. Many of them were not designed for such a fine surface as hair. They were, instead, design to cut through bark, which is a lot thicker. A chainsaw or handsaw will definitely not give you any results.
