  1. Good info. Last year we did our first garden and we did russets and purples. Since we live in Idaho….and it's potato central, we're not going to grow russets again, but we plan to do the purples again-they're tasty and so fun to see mashed up!

  2. Wait so you broke the sprout off and planted the sprout/root? Or the potato with the broken sprout? If you did the potato can you just plant the root?

  3. oh boy.. i wait until end of the video.. and still not getting the way how to sprout potatoes easily…

  4. Do you have any Finn Potatoes? That is Finn like the people in Finland! And I bet there are some up there in the Great Lakes region! for your info…The Finns celebrate Santia Urho's Day on the Day before St. Patrick's Day…And we Finns know that Patrick was a drunken Catholic Herpetologist on the look-out for Snakes in Ireland, and if you don't look close enough, you can mistake their worms for snakes…And that is why they still think that there are Snakes in Ireland…Now go and look up Saint Urho's Day on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQKJsKwtKkg Have fun looking and learning! And YES…If the Irish can look for snakes, the Finns can celebrate the banishment of the Grasshoppers by Santia Urho…And here how it looks in Finnish! Heinäsirkka, heinäsirkka, mene täältä hiiteen….Grasshopper Grasshopper Go to Hell…And they did! "They went to Minnesota!" And Santa does live in Finland and his name is Joulupukki, and his headquarters is Rovaniemi, and if you send a christmas card with a return envelope, it will be post marked Christmas town…https://santaclausvillage.info/santa-claus/santa-claus-main-post-office/…..Santa Claus Main Post Office
…Tähtikuja 1, 96930 Rovaniemi, Finland. Hauska Joulua!….269 days till Christmas!

  5. I have some potatoes that I buy from Trader Joes that are sprouting already, but the sprouts are short and white. Can I use those? Last frost is predicted to be 2 weeks from now. What should I do with them to get the best results? Put them in the light or dark?

  6. I just about choked on my supper when I heard you say Bridgewater, Maine. I would spend my summers there as a kid. Are you in Maine?!

  7. Trying to get my Yukons to sprout more eves, its coming slowly so I moved them from the basement to upstairs sunny window..Cool? Thank you young man! I/m going to have the BEST garden 2021..LOL

  8. Thanks for this video the seed potatoes I purchased have at least 6 inch single sprouts. Should I still put them in light to get more sprouts?

  9. You broke off the sprout then planted “it.” Then you turned right around and said you never want to that bc the potato is the sprouts energy. Please clarify what is “IT” that you planted after breaking off the sprout, the potato or the sprout?

  10. Thanks so much! I always thought that the potatoes had to sprout before planting. I have watched dozens of YouTube videos on this topic, and you are the ONLY PERSON to mention this potentially important detail. Cheers!

  11. My apologies if I misunderstood. At first you said to sprout in cool dark place…so I put my potatoes in cool dark place, then you showed putting potatoes in egg cartons or pots in light to sprout…so I ran back to put them back in light. I’m so confused.

  12. Thanks mate, first timer here. I planted my seed potatoes straight away and they only had very small eyes. I thought I had stuffed up. Thanks for letting me know that they will still grow. It will just take a little longer before the penetrate the soil. Your knowledge of this is a great relief.
    Thanks again.
