Planting Strawberry Runners, Tips and Strategies In 2020

How To Plant Strawberry Runners! Strawberry mother plants send out runners as a reproductive strategy. These runners are akin to a tomato sucker and are a vegetative offshoot of the main plant that’s trying to become a plant on its own. This is great and a fantastic way to expand your Strawberry patch for free! Propagating Strawberries from runners is the single easiest way to multiply a Strawberry population.

In this video I show you how I plant my Strawberry runners for maximum growth and success so that we can get new fruiting Strawberry mother plants within a single growing growing season! The only thing that beats free Strawberry plants is free Strawberry plants that start producing right away!

  2. Outstanding, instructional video that is just what I needed so I can propagate my strawberries! Thanks so much!

  3. I love your videos!! So easy to watch and understand! I learn better by seeing something and not reading it so I really appreciate a straight to the point video. I joined the fb page! Excited to see all the posts! Thank you again & God bless ๐Ÿคโœจ๐Ÿ™

  4. After first fall frost does it need to be kept indoor for whole winter (-25c) or can be left in the open outdoor?

  5. I've done the trying to pot the runners while they were still attached to the Mother plant. At one point I had margarine tubs all over my garden. NEVER AGAIN…LOL. Thank you for this video lesson. Next year will be much more productive.

  6. Once the pots have soaked in water for 2 hours and you plant the runners in the soil. Do you keep the water in the tray or drain it? Sorry if thats a silly question, this is my first time trying to grow strawberries. Thanks for the very helpful tips btw!

  7. Only problem is my strawberry plants are producing very little fruit as it is. So increasing my plants is like multiplying by zero. What berries they did produce always seemed to be eaten by something, and the leaves are constantly being eaten as well. I think I need an automated watering drip system, better soil, and a pest solution.

  8. Best video on propagating strawberries. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™

  9. My strawberries also were written with brown spots is this just burnt because of the hot summer weโ€™ve had here? Or is it a type of fungus? Also if it is do I have to take all the plants out and start over again with the patch? Thank you

  10. Started following you since I saw this videoโ€ฆ.just in time to take care of my runnersโ€ฆI have a question, since I live in Northern Michigan once they take off in the pots, should I leave them in the pots over the winter in my unheated green house or get them into the ground with mulch? I would mulch them in the green house too.

  11. Thank you for this informative video. One suggestion: tell people not to cut the runner stem too short while you are doing it. I was following step by step and didn't leave an inch for later anchor because you didn't mention it while cutting.

  12. Hi all, im a producer of strawberries and I find you get better, bigger strawberries when leaving them attached to the plant, if you cut them and plant them, you often end up with fruit half the size of the mother plant.
Just my advice from my expreiance.
I am in the south of france and usually start about September, october, but ive done it as late as December and not had too much loss. If your further north i wpuld reccomend starting earlier.

    Good luck!!!

  13. Live in the UK and just potted about 10 plants from runners from a mother plantโ€ฆ frost probably starts in about 6-8 weeksโ€ฆ would you keep them outdoor through winter? Ohโ€ฆ and Iโ€™ve done half pots everywhere and half snipping them off!

  14. Thank you for this video. Straight to the point. I get so tired of listening to people who fell the need to tell me their family history. I just want to know how to grow strawberries.

  15. Thank you! Thank you! I so enjoy learning from you! Next spring, 2023 will be my 1st try at growing strawberry plants in my new #GreenStalk, from runners my dear neighbor just brought me that I have in soil to root before our 1st frost!
