Annual Planting Season Has Begun! | Gardening with Creekside

Our annual planting season has begun, and I am so excited to be adding loads of gorgeous color to our backyard gardens surrounding the patio. These gorgeous annuals are going to give us massive amounts of color while attracting hummingbirds and pollinators to the space throughout the entire growing season. It is such a fun time to be a gardener!

  1. Zone 6a here, I saw a snake in my yard yesterday, it scared us both, well I scared it and it scared me. Anyway it’s only April, I thought I had at least another month before I had to be on snake watch 😱 it only a garden snake, but I hate snakes! 🌷💚🙃

  2. Good morning! I noticed the new (to me) drill. Is it heavier or harder to handle than the one in the original kit?

  3. Good morning! Everything is looking beautiful! I only have one issue personally. My finances are such that I am unable to buy that much to make a beautiful statement like that. I miss the days of buying flowers in flats for $8 and sometimes less. LOL guess I just told my age. Anyway realistically there are a lot of us on fixed incomes that can barely pay necessary bills. Just saying.😊. But on a positive note your place looks gorgeous. 🌞👍💐

  4. I hope I have not over filled my pots. I loved the rain last night. I did not get all my plants in pots but will today.

  5. It’s looking very pretty, Jenny. Lots of hard work. Thank you for sharing. 💜🧡💜

  6. Thanks for inspiration to get outside and do some planting today. Also, i have had 1 type of tulip that come back really well for me in 7b. Double late negrita. It is the longest blooming as well.

  7. Wow what an impact when you said this didn’t exist 3 years ago! What a spectacular young garden!

  8. Hi Jenny, your excitement is contagious! I love it and can't wait to see all those beautiful plants fill in. Many blessings! 💞

  9. So. You're saying we northerners have an advantage over southern gardeners? 🤭🌷

Can we just take a moment to appreciate that green 💚 wall of trees?

I'm excited to get annuals to plant. Until they're available, I picked up some violas yesterday and will plant up a container in my garage — it's a rainy day. 😊

  10. Jenny. Have you pruned your butterfly bushes yet? I'm in zone 8a and they still appear dormant from Winter. I'm 1hr south of you in Souf Cakilaki.

  11. Great job looking wonderful. Love the star ones gorgeous. Nice to see Megan. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

  12. Good morning Jenny! I'm hoping to get started on my annuals next weekend, which means I'll need to make a trip over next week.

  13. I can’t wait for your weekly post. It. Is so nice to have gardener in our zone seven. Also our local garden shop Carrie’s Proven Winner plants so I know they are going to be beautiful. You are my go to gardener!

  14. Do you have any advice on rabbits eating the plants down to nubs. I have lost so many annuals that way. Also have voles. Lost perennials that way.

  15. Jenny did you have a few cups of coffee this morning lol we are in Northern California and feeling the same .

  16. You get so ecstatic and you make me happy. We went threw a bad storm flooding and winds 70 mph. We are still drying out. But have not gone out. But my plants went outside this morningo on my patio. Can not wait to get my back yard in SC. Just love all the plants and flowers you have. You 2 are a great couple to explain everything you can do in your yard. Thanks again.

  17. Yes, a beautiful morning indeed and the excitement is real!

That was a translucent looking spider that ran up your sleeve and neck towards the back of your ear then to your jaw and you did manage to flick it off …. 🙌🏼.

    Beautiful gardens Jenny! 🪴

  18. What sunscreens do y’all wear??? Looking for some good ones to try out… got a big hat coming trying to be more safe gardening this year … don’t need anymore sun damage on my face and body! Thanks 🤍💚🖤🤍💚🖤🤍💚🖤🌺🌸🌿🪴🌳🍀🍀🍀 love white super petunias lol my favorite!!!!

  19. Never ever do I see proven winners containers that full and lush no matter what garden center I go to.

  20. I use Pentas and Angelonia in pots because they stand up to the heat and last until fall; good plants for your money. They did well in last year’s high temps and drought. Those Cool Job gloves are my favorite…dirt doesn’t get in your gloves and you can feel what your doing. ❤️

  21. Jenny, I wish you would try to exhibit more excitement…your lack of enthusiasm just isn't motivating. 😉😆😉😆

  22. I planted pentas last year after seeing you use them at the mailbox (I think). They were wonderful! I used them in several locations and they looked great even through the summer in Georgia (8a). Thanks for sharing, Jenny! ❤ xo

  23. When proven winners does an improved version…does that mean the original is replaced or do we have to make sure it says improved so as not to get the origianl

  24. Talking about tulips, I am in NC zone 8a. I can’t even get tulips to grow in pots, certainly not the ground. I over wintered mine in the fridge this year and still only half of them came up once I potted them up. No blooms yet.
