Get Perfect Carrots and Beetroot? Seed Tape! The Secret To Sowing Carrots and Beetroot.

Why planting carrots and beetroot using seed tape is better than loose seeds

If you’re looking to start a vegetable garden, planting carrots and beetroot with seed tape can be a more efficient and effective method than using loose seeds. Seed tape is a convenient and easy-to-use product that consists of pre-spaced seeds embedded into a biodegradable tape. With seed tape, there’s no need for fiddly seed spacing or thinning out seedlings, as the seeds are already placed at the perfect distance apart. This eliminates the need for guesswork and reduces the chances of overcrowding, which can lead to stunted growth and poor yields. In addition, seed tape ensures that each seed has a consistent depth of planting, which is essential for even germination. By using seed tape, you can save time and effort while achieving a healthier and more abundant harvest of delicious carrots and beetroot.

  1. I have no problems growing carrots. I did try the tape years ago without success but that could have also been down to other factors, for sure. But that darn fly!!

  2. I bought lots of out of date veg seed tape from B&Q. Radish, beetroot, lettuce & carrot. I need to bang them in when I get back from holiday.

  3. love your videos, very informative… I'm still getting my garden sorted for growing…I have a polytunnel ready to put up but the land needs clearing first (shed to pull down), then old beds to remove and some levelling to do…I can't do the polytunnel till I'm off work soon, so lots to do…yaaah

  4. Just back from the plot and that's exactly what i sowed in the ground i did cover mine with scaffold netting to deter the foxes from using the bed as a toilet

  5. I started some carrots in tea bags filled with compost then transplanted them into buckets a month ago but only planted in a raised with carrots yesterday with polythene on top to help germination.

  6. Quite a nice, simple way to sow seeds. Doesn't quite help if you're planting everything in round pots, so I'm left with thinning by hand 😆

  7. I’ve been using seed tape for years, it comes in onion, radish, carrot and lettuce. Always water before covering is the only real rule. Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦

  8. Tony I have never ever seen anything like that. What will they think of next. Interesting Thanks Take Care.

  9. Thanks Tony. Good idea using the tape. I'm heavy handed with sowing and thinning carrots is not my favourite job

  10. Happy Easter Tony, Peace and blessings for you and your family. One question when you covered the carrot seed tape did you sprinkle soil on top and the press in place or drag it over and press in place. I think I will buy one packet of carrot seeds and try this I keep trying with less than zero results. Thanks for the video today!!

  11. Happy Easter! This year I have made my own tape with paper towels for carrot seeds with radish seeds in between. The advantage of making your own (see videos on You Tube) is that you can select which seeds you use abd mix them. Am now waiting for them to come up but with all the showers we have in the NL at the moment, should be OK!

  12. I used the lettuce tapes once and nothing came up so will be interested to see what you get with these. I’ve only got a little garden and no greenhouse or poly tunnel so I’ve only just got my broad beans in , hopefully will get some peas planted and sow some carrots and beets in the next few days
