Watch This Before You Make Compost to See What Can be Used to Turned into Garden Soil Container

  1. Thank you Robbie and Gary after watching you I did use leaves and my compost for my raised chair garden and didn't have to buy any soil i used leftover soil from last year and mixed it how you do and i they are growing amazingly well so thanks again

  2. Hey Robbie & Kitty🥰 Been getting smaller containers ready to start layering, thank you so much for showing us how to layer🥰🥰

  3. You just answered my question on the drainage issue. I bought one of those containers at a yard sale. It has a drain in the end, but I will do the same thing with a garden hose. Thank you for showing me what to do!

  4. You should put a sink strainer screen over the hose nozzle inside. For sure it will get clogged, even with grasses.

  5. Not sure the metal container isn’t over kill. It’s so deep. How many containers could you fill with everything you put into that container? Guess you could use it for a tub if it doesn’t work out😄

  6. it looked like Kitty 🐕 was following you around saying “Mom! Mom! Mom! What Did You Do With My Broccoli Plant?!?!” 🤣

  7. It's looking good, soil is so expensive, Happy gardening Robbie.

  8. Don't let anyone ever tell you something can't be done, just because experts say it won't work, doesn't mean it's true. They told me green pepper stalks won't root from a broken branch. Last year I put it in a jar with water in August, today it has roots ⚡⚡♥️

  9. Fire rings are wonderful too! I was given an old galvanized wash tub a few years back. The bottom had partially rusted out, got it filled and went to go get some seedlings across town. When I got home it was gone. Someone grabbed it and emptied the soil, then vamoosed on out.😢

  10. Your dragon fruit plant is looking spectacular. Your container is going to look beautiful in front of it.

  11. Can't wait to see what you put in it. Kitty looked like she was in a panic over her broccoli. Hope you gave her a bite to show her she still had broccoli.

  12. You have inspired me! For the first time, I have 8 totes and a couple of buckets from Kroger bakery. They give them away for free. I am planting all kinds of seeds and hope to have a good harvest. From Western KY, zone 7a.

  13. Really nice job on your container. Do you grow your walking on8ons from seed? Kitty looked like she was panicking. Lol. I used an old wheel Barrow that my husband is going to throw out for planting flowers in. I filled the bottom with sticks. I had lots of compost so I put that in next and then I put in some potting mix. Didn't plan it yet because too cold for flowers yet. Can't wait to see what you're going to plant. Happy gardening!

  14. I hope you or someone in your awesome community can help me ! I live in Central NC. I have only recently started to see if I had any green thumb at all for a little over a year. I started with just the easiest houseplants to grown and to my surprise I gave beautiful green leaves and vines almost completely around my living room. Have a decent amount throughout the the house now and ran out of space and also wanted to keep moving forward. Well I have almost 3 acres surrounding by woods and I have not been able to win the war against FIRE ANTS in the 27 years I have lived here. My soil here is not good , my yard is nothing to brag about due to the soil it is that hard rocky red dirty south dirt. I thought I was smart and put my flowers, herbs, and some veggies in containers one plant per container except a couple that have 2. Well I am INFESTED with FIRE ANTS with majority of everything outside. I came home from a 12 day trip ( not vacation lol ) and went to pull some weeds and if you know fire ants you know it is so so bad. I have been trying to figure out my best game plan . I have watched YouTube, Googled for 4 days and I am almost to the point of tears not sad angry these demons are something straight from the pits of you know where. I have been treating my mounds in the actual yard. Put boiling water in containers, Neem Oil, more boiling water with Dawn , more water with Dawn and baking soda, more water with Boric and sugar. I think I need to just know when to wave my white flag suit up like I am going somewhere that I have never been before and just kill them all 😢 I do apologize that this is off topic and I have to mildly use a little dark humor to get me through my situation here. I will not get offended just be gentle remember this is a new chapter I have not completely read at all lol. Thank You I’m advance if know what I am dealing with , oh and there are 22 mounds I have kept count of and I have not even attempted to count or even find some of the smaller ones that have not yet got above enough to see easily.

  15. Hey Robbie i have trouble with bees on my hummingbird feeders and i don't know what to do could you please make a video of some tips and advice?

  16. Robbie, that 2 foot tall bed looks really nice! I know what you mean by having to clear a pathway to get to something because i have to do that with my front garden that has too much germander growing up that blooms in June but takes over! It is a mint so that explains it being invasive! Then there is the mondo grass that is a weed! UGH!!!

  17. Hi Robbie 🌺 Been waiting to see what you were gonna do with that since you got it😊 Can’t wait to see what you will plant in it 🌱

  18. How exciting, I’m looking forward to how it turns out. I wonder if you let the hose from the steel planter fill a tray like a kitty litter tray then place plants in the tray to absorb the water? Would be a neat experiment. Or a shallow tray like for prepping wallpaper something like that. Might need to poke a hole in the side of the tray for the hose with your soldering iron. 😉
Also, Kitty reminded me of one of my favorite YT channels you might enjoy. Campervan Kevin and he has 3 “talking” Yorkies. I think you would like it. Kitty might like watching too.
    Thank you Robbie 🙂

  19. Today i did the same thing … but i had to empty an old planter ninto the raised bed and found 50 grubs as i was sifring the soil … grrr

  20. Thank you for sharing this. I've been waiting for it. I bought a couple of these troughs, but haven't done anything with them, yet Looking forward to your next steps. You're an inspiration. Kitty is sure interested in what you're doing, too. She's such a cutie.

  21. I bought 2 of the galvanized troughs, but drilled 1” holes in the bottom and have them set on 1 ft high tables.
I filled them like you did, they work great.
Thank you for all you videos…
