How to Make Homemade Fish Emulsion 2 ways | Fertilizer Shortage | Container Gardening

Being prepared and prepping needs to happened now! There is a fish fertilizer shortage in my area and more than likely it’s coming to your area too. Be prepared and learn how to make homemade fish emulsion 2 ways. Zone 7B

***Recipe for DIY fish emulsion:
1. Buy or catch fish
2. Add fish to a high power blender
3. Add water in a 3:1 ratio. 3 parts water to 1 part ferment material (fish)
4. Blend until it breaks down
5. Add molasses about 1/3 the amount of fish and blend again
6. Add 2 tablespoons sawdust, blend again
7. Blend until you get a very liquid solution
Next pour into a clear container and loosely cover. Let it sit for 3/4 weeks, check to see if it has stopped bubbling and doesn’t smell much.

NOTE: ALWAYS USE NON-CHLORINATED WATER. Chlorine kills microbes. Simply let your chlorinated tap water sit for several hours, allowing the chlorine to dissipate.

Try not to use cane sugar since it is chemically bleached. Raw(unrefined) sugar like muscovado is best. Preferably use molasses.

No need to seal, because the container will explode as CO2 (gas) is released during fermentation.

To use add 1 tablespoon per gallon of water, mix well and add to your garden as you normally would.

  3. Hi Pam!! I’m listening…I’ve been in the yard and garden all day. It’s beautiful here in Zone 6a Michigan. Just gorgeous day!! My yard looks so pretty, and my containers garden is just beautiful too….I’m glad I bought some three weeks ago, but I’m listening how to do this. Thank you!!

  4. I love sardines too, but I’m having trouble finding them in water? Theirs plenty in oil, but no water. It’s fine…I’ll be on the hunt!!

  5. I have another way to make it. Buy feeders from a pet store and add to my rain barrels, free poop and they eat mosquitoes larvae. Love your suggestions too, excellent research. 👌

  6. I could not find the recipe for making the fish emulsion. I would love to have it. I love your videos. Thank you

  7. This was awesome , cause free is always is for us 😆 we definitely have fresh drum we caught in the freezer. ! Warning lol 😆. Yes loved it will not stank. I eat sardines so not sure they gone last but the fact I can use the water is very cool 😎 Peace Love and Light #blessings

  8. Pam, You are SO adorable! I love your sweet and joyful way of sharing. I can't wait to try these tips.
I live in hot Southern California. Which translates to water shortage! So unfortunately no rain in the rain barrels for me at the moment. . And water always coming from the outside tap and whatever I can save from general use. Question: Am I harming my crops then by watering straight from the hose? Should I fill a container with water and wait for the chlorine to subside? I can't believe I just found you on youtube and I am excited to be a part of this community. God bless you.

  9. Also u said 1tbs to a gallon but store bought emulsions is 2tbs to a gallon for veggies, 4tbs for trees, and 1tbs for container plants…soo what would I use for the homemade one

  10. We make 5 gallon buckets of it but we also put it on 4 acres. Put a spickit on the bottom for getting it out and drill a hole in the top that a fish bubbler hose will fit in and slide it in but not to the liquid and put the other end in water no smell. Cut up fatty fish and mix it up good and put it in a paint strainer we spread it with a sprayer and atv.
