  1. Try mulching Japanese maple in pot with pea gravel like Linda Vater. It will have contrast. Yours looks good too!

  2. Love this idea!!! What is funny is I thought about sending you something from Texas 9b and ask what I should try from California 9b…the reason is I know that even though we are in the same zone, I know that we have different levels of rain and humidity, etc…❤❤❤

  3. Love the idea of doing a plant exchange with a friend, nice way to open gardening horizons.

  4. OMGGG what a BEAUTIFUL maple tree!! It arrived in excellent condition! I want one now in my zone 9B! 😍

  5. Oh it's gorgeous ! You introduced me to Steph some time back. Love her content and I'm in 9b myself. Steph you knocked it out of the park with that beauty!

  6. Oh Janey! What a lovely gift! I have a full moon maple that is maybe 20 years old. I bought it around the same size as yours is now. It is the one tree that always gets comments and questions from visitors. You are going to love it. Don't be afraid of Japanese Maples. They are soooo hardy given the right amount of morning sun and always keep them moist with good drainage. I bet you will want to plant that in the garden next year. Then you can buy another one for your pot on the patio…..If you give a mouse a cookie…Right??!!! Have fun as always!!!

  7. So pretty! I'll have to try Japanese Maples in containers. What a great idea! 🌱M

  8. I love this idea, I am in zone 8B can I get on this club pleaseeee. love your videos.

  9. Wow, what a fun idea for you and Steph! This new tree has such a beautiful shape! It really is perfect for your space. I've never seen one with leaves in this gorgeous shape! Now can't wait to see what you sent to Steph!
I love this happy experiment!! Linda

  10. I'm in Zone 6 and have had a Japanese Maple in a large wooden square planter (18") for at least 10 years. It's on the East wall of the house. And gets lots of wind, about 5 hours of morning sun.
I think you chose a great location for yours, time will tell ❤😊.

  11. That is a beautiful Japanese Maple tree. I have never seen one line it before. I am a subscriber to her channel, she has a gorgeous garden 🪴 😊

  12. I absolutely lose this!! I already watched both of your channels so it’s fun to see that you all are friends!

  13. Very fun and it is a gorgeous tree fits right in that spot!
    Nice job ladies!

  14. This is such a cute idea!! I have a collection of Japanese maples and Aureum is one of my favorites. It GLOWS in the shade. Whitman Farms is also incredible, I have several maples from her. Probably the best prices with the biggest trees you will find online.

  15. Great idea for a video Janey. We’ll go and check your friends channel out now. 🥰

  16. If it starts to decline, you might also think about swapping the soil to acidic soil. Greetings from Fresno,ca where our garden center pretty much says it’s imperative for Japanese maples

  17. I also want to echo others and say that I enjoy your channel and look forward to seeing your continued growth. It's been so nice to tour various gardens with you and I appreciate the effort you put into this. I very much enjoyed his garden and his personality!

  18. I’m very interesting see how the Japanese Maple holds up in Janey’s zone 9. I have tried 4 different varieties and all have failed in my zone 9. There was once a time where I was really into Japanese maples and I just had to have one! I spent two years and I tried four different varieties and they all failed!
3 of them died simply because of the heat and the 4th one is barely hanging on! It hasn’t grown in the last two years and each season it looks worse…About to throw away or give away. I feel like Japanese maples really aren’t for zone nine, but these companies want to make as much money as possible so they just put zone nine on there so they can make an extra buck! It’s really annoying! And it’s not just Jap Maples! I see the big stores like Home Depot and Lowes fibbing on the zones, saying it’s good for zone 9 when in reality, none of us down here have any business growing these types! Personally, I’ve never seen a Japanese maple in my area that is thriving. So I basically gave up on my Jap Maple dream and I put it on the list of types I know I can’t grow in my zone. So I am super interested to see if this Aureum “full moon” variety does good for Janey
