Today I’m tackling the second side of the Island Garden, while I’m not one for symmetry I do strive for visual balance. Side Two as we’ll call it had a whole lot of iris and not much else. Why I thought this side would be easier I have no idea? I have so much space to fill with a better blend of perennials, grasses, of course some roses and some structure in the form of more planters and a cool old window trellis.

If you’re new here, I’m a Philadelphia based floral and event designer whose entire garden is for cutting and flower arranging. I don’t make straight rows of anything and I’ll cut with abandon to create floral designs from the first flowers of Spring till the frost kills the mums in the Fall. I focus on color and planting things together so they bloom all season in waves of designs-like I’ve arranged each and every stem.

It's always way more work than we thought, but so worth it! I love that island grouping, The gothic window with the pedestal urns is perfect! Any chance you'll be selling any of your surplus iris?
