This is great, gives me confidence to try growing them in containers. Very comprehensive video!
Thx for sharing. Did you start with seeds and which month?
I would heavily suggest to people water with fish poop water, its supposed to be heavy in nitrogen.
Which month do you plant your corn?
I'm doing this. My daughter is ready to learn. We've got the pots & seeds just waiting on warmer weather
Going to give the Orchard Baby, Dwarf Corn variety from Baker Creek a try this year. Square Foot Garden method in zone 6.
Excellent video. I’ll do some in buckets that size. Just like you showed. Thank you!!
That corn is gorgeous! very inspiring and informative video. Thank you!
ok im trying dent corn in contanors with just coral rock as the medium.
I'm starting it today on the New Mexico and Old Mexico boarder. 02/05/2023.
water is scares.
good ground is scares.
I can not find anyone that grows corn with a dry method. Or a little water method.
Everyone lives where you get over 30 inches of rain. And gives plenty of water.
I only get 4 inches of rain. And it will be lucky if it gets 10 inches of watering.
Someone has to find a dry corn.
I guess it's up to me.
Its funny.
All my rain is in July and August.
And its in single days with a single hour of rain. An hour later its all gone.
is it true that one plant can only produce 1-2 ears per plant and than dies back?
Hi Jenna! I want to grow corn in plant bags, my planned and to be ordered size are just around 17 gallons. So, I think, with 3 plant max, this should work, right? I also plan to do "three sisters" principle, and will seed runner beans later in the pot together with the corn plants, and maybe 1 pumpkin plant or maybe just cucumbers instead of the pumpkin, which would get probably too less nutrients in the bag. I am able to fertilize with rich compost, based on kitchen scraps and chicken manure over the year. This should the job, right? I have grown corn in the past in soil, but now don´t have the space anymore to do this. Thanks for sharing your experience! Greetings from austria.
I just planted my first corn seeds in 5 gallon buckets. 3 plants per bucket, 6 buckets. Lets seee how it goes. Love the video.
Thank you for making this video! We juat have not had the time to get our soil ready for corn this year so I'm going to give grow bag corn a try now that I know it will work!
This seems like a very good video; and, I intend to try this. p.s.: I'm curious about your Roman-numeral wrist-tattoos.
I play to grow corn this year in a 30 gallon grow bag. I'm trying to figure out what to wrap around the stalks to protect them from the squirrels. Any suggestions?
Excellent video
I'm trying sweet corn, potatoes and watermelon for the first time. You give easy instructions and a beautiful garden. I'm in Indiana zone 6. Pretty sure we are the same zone. I do have 2 questions. How deep are the roots on corn? I'm stacking tires to put them in. Can I use potting soil and cow manure mixed to grow the corn in? Help please. My grandkids want corn and don't want to disappoint.
This very was awesome. It answered every question I had, and was so easy to follow. Thank You!
Thank you for this! Im in socal and was not going to grow corn because my ground is full full but i have grow bags left over and will try your method
I'm planting tomorrow in 25 gallon cloth bags so I'm soaking up what first hand knowledge I can. Great info, thanks.
So you harvest the corn, will they grow again in a year or do you remove the growth and reseed?
Thank you so much for the info. Love your channel Jenna.
I grew in containers last year and will grow 2023 I already have mines in greenhouse.
Thank you for sharing.
great video i'm going to try 20 gal bags
Hi!! We're in Southern Coastal South Australia. I think we'll try containers next year. We only had 4 plants this year and the ears were delicious!!
Thanks for your tips!!
My first time planting corn! I couldn’t find mushroom compost. Took your advice and went with the best manure compost I could find. I planted in 3 20 gallon containers. Keeping my fingers crossed!

So what is the container difference from the cloth bag you have and the plastic containers is it for water to drain properly and also for nutrients when you said corn need nitrogen and you give cup of mixer. can you use homemade use such as egg shell, banana water, blood marrow, and home food to give the nutrients or does it have to be balance through the market store.
Is there a certain type of corn that works best in containers?
I'd given up…but this is encouraging to make me try again thx B-Lynn
I am going to grow two plants of sweet corn per 5 gallon bucket. First time growing corn. I'll let you know how it turns out
I’m new to growing corn. Would 2-2-2 be a good fertilizer?
Thanks for the info Jenna👍! I do have a question about pests and treatment. I have an urban garden with raccoons, possoms, and ground hogs how or what can I do to keep them and other predators away?
What seed did you use? I bought some Burpee on the deck, and the reviews seem to be pretty mixed.
My coworker gifted me 6 corn seedlings 🌱 and I just planted them in a 30 gallon grow bags. I can't wait to see how they grow
Beautiful. The corn ain't bad either. Cool idea for us have small yard at RV resort. In Walmart bags and dollar store bags are huge. Beautiful corn coming for end of summer. Thanks for the tips.
Read an article that you could grow corn in a 12 inches wide and deep container..? And also that you could have 4 plants in that container..! Idk but that sounds like Way too little space! But maybe it is possible to get yield but I’m guessing it’s quite a small one.
I’m gonna try growing a corn plant in a bucket, and try keeping it indoors where there is a lot of sunlight and heat…
My sister bought another variety than what I was already growing but only one came up..
I am afraid of that one plant ruining my 24 plants…
But since it was a special variety, she wants to keep it.. idk if this will work since it’ll be too hot in the area I’m planning on having this one corn plant, so we’ll have to air sometimes but that increases the chances of pollen spreading of course? A bit of a dilemma but I hope it is possible to succeed..
Any tips are much appreciated of course..!
Thanks for the video Jenna. My corn is looking good so far. I like the tip about mushroom compost.
Plan on growing soon, this was very helpful!!! Thanks for posting!
Can i use mili crates?
I just brought 12 10gal grow bags for my sweet corn…I know you said nothing smaller but that's what I have right now. So we'll see🌽🌱 Great video. Thank you
