Hattie’s pincushion. I don’t know who Hattie was (answers on a postcard please…) but the description of ‘pincushion’ is pretty accurate. Known more formally as Astrantia; these are good natured plants that demand attention without being in-your-face about it. Starting with a first flush of flowers in May, they can continue to bloom for months. Add Salvia, Allium & grasses to pink varieties for a scheme that will last all summer and beyond, whilst white varieties create highlights in dappled shade and look good with leafy stuff (AKA texture to designer-types), particularly Hosta and Ferns #Astrantia #perennials #gardendesign #gardening #loveplants #plantsofinstagram
