Unlock the Secret to a Successful Green Bean Harvest #greenbeans #gardeningtips #harvest #homegrown

How to know your green beans are ready to harvest – pick them before the beans inside start to swell up and you can clearly see their outline thru the pods. Once the beans start to swell, the pods get fibrous and stringy which is not the best for eating. Harvest frequently to prevent the plants from going to seed. Once they go to seed, green bean pod production starts to decline.

  1. I didn't care for growing bush beans, harder to find the beans on the plants, and being close to the soil, I found they had more issues with disease.

  2. Will that one bean you left for seeds effect the productivity of the plant going forward?

  3. There is an exception to the standard "Green Bean" rule. With "Greasy Beans," you know they are ready when the Beans plump up.

  4. I think pole beans are better for a small garden because you need less plants for the same amount of harvest and takes up a smaller footprint.😊🫘
