  1. Here in EU we just use impregnated wood, no need to get overkill size width or fancy beam holders and 12by12 feet (13.37 m^2) with all parts will set us back no more than €1-1.2k (1.5$).

  2. Yup i built that! Thank for the guidance. 12' x 16' ground level with tuff blocks and trex.

  3. Where can I find a beautiful model as my carpentry aide? Fully polished nails, wearing beach sunglasses and Sunday's boots to work…

  4. I built a little 7×7 deck and im not too confident anymore lol. I used four 2×6 as my support, i didnt add the 4x4s. It feels sturdy for sure my i was thinking of putting a jacuzzi on it and that can be heavy depending on size. Ugh.

  5. I need you to come to GA. I need some expert assistance with a backyard wood deck, play house for the kids and a stoned patio for a fire pit. My yard is too hilly and so un leveled

  6. Thumbnail says 'No permit, No digging'… didn't you just dig holes to put those floaters in?…

I built a floating 10'x10' deck for a friend some years ago and only leveled the soil on top of the earth. 10 years later shes still a solid, floating deck.. 😊

  7. Excellent educational video – explained clearly. One of many details I will never forget – lay the boards in a rainbow (not a smile). Thank you…

  8. Quick question: I saw on your affordable deck video, you didn’t use weed barrier, but you did use it on this one.

How do you determine whether or not you need weed barrier under a deck?

  9. Thank you for sharing the amazing work. Just wandering how is going to resist on Hi Winds. 😅

  10. Too painful to watch. You need a stress test and learn to slow down before you have a heart attack. Start cardio work too such as a bike/ treadmill/long walks and slow down😳

  11. I love the camo system, However when I placed screws about one inch back from the edge where decking boards butted together in the middle of the floor joist all was fine Until the wood dried and shrunk a little some of the edges split. so be careful of placement.

  12. She literally dropped a "that's what she said" line when he said keep going till this part hits the middle…hahaha great video!

  13. Why not level this with a stake, string, and inline level system? That would seem to be significantly easier than the “dry fit” method

  14. Thank you for this video. So, we "squared" up our rectangular deck only to find that the joist in from would be 31" and at the rear 34.5" and yet, our cross measuring for squaring both came out to 128" 🙄 So, I decided to just make the executive decision to cut all of my joists at 34.5" and figured that it would all work out. "To be happy with what I've done". Not sure how it happened but it all seemed to work out and the deck appears to be level and flush up against the two side of the house entrance. I did employ many of your tip sand tricks on my first ever deck – 2' off the ground. Thank you sooo much! (It's probably not perfect but she'll do the job and I'm good with that). Gotta go back and finish the stairs & railings today…

  15. Great videos bud. love watching..
question. why not just 3,4,5 some string lines for post and block layout?

  16. haha in massachusetts you violated about 76 laws and are subject to fines …. i need to move. i got fined for a dog house in my back yard

  17. I have a concrete patio so digging is out of the question without breaking that up. Can I use posts and bolt them to the patio I already have? Aside from making sure the area for the posts is level what should I take into consideration?

  18. this is great! I would love to know how to take this and build a floating deck when the landscape has a serious slope down! It feels like a 90-degree drop when walking. Suggestions?

  19. Floating decks contort and twist out joints… especially if half is in the early spring sun.

  20. Love the video I am about to build a deck for my sister. both my sister are helping. Girl Power. Never have seen the Camp tool before. Looks like a game changer.

  21. If I were to use your same design, but instead of a shed, I built a pergola. Would it be wise to use the carriage bolts to secure the 4 x 4's?

  22. Wow – how great! Build it like and amateur and charge the customer less than a pro! At least it will be easy to take apart. Sorry, I've seen what a winter can do to a temporary structure such as this – looks good for a season, though. "Ridge beam" on a deck? Build the square – then build it again – after you put in the "short" piers… Maybe they should just have spread some gravel and leveled it. "If you want a deck to last, you have to build it to last." But then you cut corners and don't provide real piers or stability.
