  2. Soaking seeds 6 to 12 hrs (no more than 12) in 1 teaspoon vinegar to cup of water, thoughts?
    Thank you Gary

  3. I have problems knowing when to water (how often) certain vegetables: potatoes & onions,, as well as the correct planting depth for onions, and could benefit from specific videos that showcase the monthly progress from seed starting to weekly watering and fertilizing schedule.

This year I overwatered my sweet potatoes (every two days) but then I googled it and it said to water once so I need something specific for different vegetable categories, if possible.

  4. Cooler weather, 80-84F, has finally come to central Alabama. I just sowed seeds for golden beets (again), more Late Nagasaki Cabbage, and Hilton Cabbage. My kohlrabi, Pak Choi, Komatsuna, and Yellow Heart Winter Choy seedlings are all looking good. I've started clearing out my pole beans, and I harvested a bunch of peppers this morning. It is time to sow seeds for my winter tomato experiment (Early Girl Bush and Tom Thumb), Danvers Carrots, another succession of turnips, and garlic. I will be planting Elephant Garlic, and grocery store mystery store garlic next week. My cantaloupe is covered with flowers. I am still waiting for fruit to appear. I harvested a lot of basil seeds, and cut back my Italian Large Leaf, and sweet basil (mystery hybrid). I m letting my Cinnamon Basil continue to flower to feed the pollinators. I harvested and dehydrated ten trays of basil, so have plenty until next year. I also use it for making sun tea before it flowers. I pulled up the last of my Persian basil. It is a nice ornamental, but not good for dehydrating.

  5. Yay for the ramble. It's so ironic about the fall pests. I don't have issues with white fly until we head into fall – as I start to downsize summer plants. They congregate with a vengeance on the plants remaining, usually the last of my tomatoes and peppers. So annoying. I am going to try ginger again next year. I am better set up for it and it is a lot of fun to grow. Just today, I started my second round of radishes – and have mini bok-choy and some romaine started as well. Also – another round of basil because I love to cook with it. Thanks Gary!

  6. Thanks Gary, will definitely sow onion seeds now. Last time I started in spring only got six small red ones so I'm taking your advice. My butternut squash did good also a friend gave me seeds from that squash that shape like a trumpet very massive over two feet long, got ten from one plant that grew on the fence, tomatoes still growing I just let them go until frost. I succession planted cucumbers this year very good idea, also potatoes. Following your instructions and am happy😊zone seven garden state👍👍👍😊

  7. Gary, so glad cool weather finally reached you all!! My TRG compost tomato is huge, 100's and 100's of sweet little cherries. My neighbor has lots of kids and when they visit, they will strip it clean and eat those little jewels right in the garden! Less than a week later, it's load again. Is for sure a keeper in my garden as well!🙂

  8. I followed your watering tips from older videos and my garden has florished this year over in the arid west. Consistent deep watering in the heat really did make a big difference this year.

  9. My best producing tomatoes – with no disease I might add – were all volunteers that I let do their own thing. It was nice to have such a good return on almost no time investment.

  10. Gary, i love that you show your successes. Your failures and your trials or experiments. Last year I had a rabbit decimate my entire sweet potato crop, this year, ci also passed chicken wire to protect them. Thank you fir all of your information. May I ask you about the onions, week you be able to harvest them this year?
