Gary Pilarchik: MFG 2016: Starting Kohlrabi & Beets in Flats: Thinning and Transplanting

You can start Kohlrabi and Beets in flats and transplant them (in about 4 weeks) to the garden. They are cool weather crops and they can take light frosts. Starting them early indoors is a great way to get a jump on the season while the ground is still too cold and even frozen.
