UnitedNatures Edible Garden on TV -ABC Gardening Australia

United Natures Edible Garden was on TV!

This episode of ABC’s Gardening Australia was filmed in 2022. It went to air this September 2023. This segment is on Season 34 Episode 26, called: Business in the Back

Check out my posts, explaining how the wonderful filming crew involved Danielle and our son, Aiden, in the filming process:

Its a wonderful example of how our garden has developed in this short time. Our current YouTube videos illustrate how much change has kicked in since this filming.

We discussed how I apply my botanical and ecological research and reasoning to growing plants at home, how we use ecological principals to generate sustainable, adaptable, edible gardens at home and living architecture installations across Australia.

It is all about practical observations, using adaptable inputs and harvesting the fruits and wellbeing that come from self-generating systems.

This is something everyone can do!

We model our gardens on how natural process unfold, by using Permacultural principals amongst syntrophic processes (processes that naturally accumulate and build: syntropy, compared with processes that reduce and decompose: entropy), based upon learning where plants come from and how they function in habitat.
This applies to everything from the humble strawberry to sweet potato, to our citrus trees and rainforest emergent species we use to create protection and closed canopies.

We take this further and apply this to orchids, ferns, epiphytes, lithophytes and all manner of plant-denizens of gardens, each contributing towards creating integrated systems that are easier to maintain, and thus, easier to enjoy.

Happy growing, good people.

I take these process much further yet and will post videos on how we use our garden to grow the research pants I use in vertical gardens, roof gardens and other living architecture technologies. In this way, I’m linking our homestead life of growing healthy, organic, food with beautification and ornamental gardens that are also functional.

Enjoy the footage, filmed by the amazing Gardening Australia team, whom I’ve been fortunate to work with again, a few weeks ago (Sept 2023) covering two days of filming vertical gardens I designed in subtropical Brisbane, Queensland. This footage will hopefully go to air next year.
