Keyhole raised beds not only look great, they also make excellent use of limited garden space. I recently built a new keyhole bed that turned these two 4 x 8 beds with a walking path between them into a single bed with a keyhole inlet. Now half of the old walking path is growing space, but I can still reach every spot in the bed from the perimeter. Not only that, the bed slopes toward the sun, which should help extend my growing season.
OYR is all about growing a lot of food on a little land using sustainable organic methods, while keeping costs and labor at a minimum. Emphasis is placed on improving soil quality with compost, mulch, and compost tea. No store-bought fertilizers, soil amendments, pesticides, compost activators, etc. are used.
