There's an exception to every rule.
I intentionally over water the first time when transplanting into bigger pots
It's always difficult to tell how much water it's gonna need to soak up in a fresh dry pot and a lot of soils will look wet and soak all the way through the drainage holes before actually soaking all the soil.
a little extra water the first water after transplanting has always been good to me
