Epic Gardening: How To Get 10x More Seedlings Out Of Your Nursery 6-Packs

If you’re buying seeds from a local nursery, oftentimes you’ll get 6-pack inserts that are overcrowded. Instead of thinning these out to 6 individual plants to transplant, you can use this ‘wash and separate’ method to get 5-10x as many seedlings to transplant into the garden.

This works great for things like onions, carrots, and any other seedling that nurseries oven over-seed. It might be a bit time consuming, but if you can turn 6 seedlings into 30-60 seedlings…then it seems worth the effort to me. After all…you already paid for them!

I get about a 70% success rate with transplanting carrot seedlings that I separate with this method, and even higher for less delicate plants like onions, basil, etc.
