Philodendron

she looks sad but I don’t know if I’m overreacting

I’ve had this heart shaped philodendron for a while now. She grew a lot during the Summer and Fall and came to a normal growth stop around mid November. I’ve noticed though that she seems quite droopy. She’s not as perky as she used to be and overall just looks unhappy. Is this normal behavior for winter? or is she sick? I have a grow light on her and water her when her soil gets dry. Any all tips appreciated.

She looks a bit sad. She doesn’t like winter. 🥺

If it’s cold it may be mad that it’s so close to the window with cold drafts coming off of it. These plants can survive with indirect light so I would move it away from the window if you can. I have a few in my house that are a foot from the window and they are perfectly fine. I would take it into the bathtub and give it a good shower. Carefully inspect everything once it’s wet. Make sure there are drainage holes on the bottom and that the water is freely flowing after watering. Once that’s done, leave her sit in the tub for an hour or until water is no longer dripping from it. Check on the soil about once a week. Only water when the soil is dry but not so dry that it feels like sand. I would try water it in the tub the next couple times it is dry and see how it does. Indoor plants don’t really have a dormancy period but they do slow down in the winter months due to less sunlight. Keep us posted 🙂

    Philodendron Brasil 👌🏽

This is a “tropical” plant, they do not like cold temperatures… You have your plantbaby hanging in the window in December, her leaves are curling because she’s cold. …The GrowLight is a good move but is suggest moving her away from the window’s cool temps, ohkay? Take her to your bathroom, plug your drain, turn on the hottest shower, and let her enjoy the steam for about five(5) minutes… turn off the shower and leave the room closed up (don’t open your drain). She’ll warm up and begin to perk back up. 👌🏽

    ** steam bath not WATERing

    🌿 Good Luck! 🌿

Really cold by the window, move her to a different spot & keep away from any heating vents.. Goodluck!
