  1. do you use special microgreen seeds or will just broccoli seeds we plant in the garden for broccoli work??? Just wondering since the seed packet specifies 'microgreens' on the seed packet.

  2. As a general rule, any plant for which any part of the plant is edible can make for good microgreens, and any plant used for microgreens is a plant where every part is edible when mature. Chia seeds work well for microgreens, since you get so many of them.

  3. Next time maybe have 3-4 kinds of micro greens 🌱 at different stages of growth so we can see what they look like and when to harvest.

  4. There's a guy at our local farmers' market who has built a business from growing microgreens. He started out growing them just for himself & his wife, and was successful enough to grow it into a business. He not only sells his microgreens pretty much year round at the farmers' market, he also offers some of his microgreens for sale at a health food store.

  5. I'd love to see future videos that take us through the whole process, step by step, up until the harvest.

  6. can I do this in smaller containers. I only have a small TV tray and a couple clip on grow lights. I have it at a south window but like you I live in Michigan in the U.P. where we get minimal sun in winter. I think I could rig up a system like that but using different clam shells. Your seeds are the greatest! My container tomatoes were awesome last summer. NEVER MIND – you just answered my question!!!🤣

  7. But where is the growth or final product part of the video? If it only take up to a week wouldn't that have been an easy aspect to include in this video to show people the final results?

  8. I have an off topic question… is there such a thing as a compact bush style heirloom tomato? My heirloom grows over 10 ft and s staking constantly ughhh

  9. I've been growing microgreens for many years now and buy my seed from True Leaf Market. They have a great selection for a relatively good price. If you are serious about growing microgreens buy seeds in bulk. Make sure your trays are as clean as possible(very important) and keep the seeds from drying out. I spray my seeds and the inside of the cover lid daily until I get germination and then add water as necessary. I've not used the paper towel method shown here but am going to try it. I normally use coir sheets. Another helpful piece of info is to have good air circulation on your trays to avoid slime mold. A small fan in the growing area works great. I grow several trays at a time and only use purified water.

  10. lol microgreens must be the new fad way to say baby plants… just like how ‘organic’ is just some made up name for growing plants the right way.

  11. Anyone looking for a durable and inexpensive container for micros, consider stainless steel steam table trays. I got some from a restaurant supply shop for $5 each which is what I paid for my plastic10×20 flats. These will last much longer. I chose perforated ones because I wanted drainage and the option to bottom water.

  12. I've got 2 types of spinach and Paris Island lettuce, Collard Greens & cabbage growing for a green salad on Christmas. Microgreens would top it off perfectly & i already bought the seeds from MiGardener!!
I'm going to plant some tmrrw & more in about 10 days for Christmas.
    Perfect video Luke!!
    Thanks so much.
Christmas Blessings to you & Sindi & the kids!!
