We went to an antique store and found a painted Christmas ornament gourd and we cracked it open to see what seed were inside.

How cool I wasn’t expecting them to be that clean heck yes !! I know your proud I would be so hyped . 😁
So Dipper gourds are a unique variety to check out. I’m sure you can find seeds but if not I have thousands++ ! I could definitely mail some to the shop . When the gourds dry we made scoopers for our animal feed . But you can also make bowls . My memory might be off but I believe the Indians used them. I think there my favorite gourds besides the luffas .
Thank you for sharing this with us .
I'm interested to see if it will germinate. I think a few of them will. It was amazing seeing the giant crimson tomato get revived. I hope this becomes a trend because it will really help with biodiversity.
Guess I'm the first to notice your math is wrong. if you germinate 10 seeds and 8 sprout that's 80%, if you start 100 seeds and 82 sprout that's 82% With a thousand seeds you get 825 to sprout you will have 82.5%. You will never get half a seed to sprout.
Good luck!
🍆 🐔🔨😲 🌱 I think some will germinate .
An antique from the 60's? That's not what I was expecting. Sigh
How could you just break such an item when you could have just grilled out the bottom and still have an ornament!
I'm excited to see future videos on how this turns out
You should've just sawed the bottom off to preserve the cute rooster. Oh well.
I think they will. Maybe 67 seeds.
60 seeds that will be viable.
How fun! Can't wait to see how it turns out! Take care!
Hope that that dust from the gourd doesn't make you sick
I think 11 seeds. I think at least 1 will be viable
Can't wait to see what they become
27 and yes they will sprout
101 seeds not viable
25 seeds and yes at least 1 will germinate. I have an apple gourd I grew and decorated 20+ years ago… now I want to see if the seeds inside will sprout.
32 seeds, viable
Whoa, way more seeds than I would have guessed!
I think they will germinate 2:35 I feel 16 seeds
I think they will germinate because they have been protected.I would have worn a mask. Just snh.good luck
Yes they will grow and about 40 seeds
Fun!
I say at least 1 will germinate and become a plant!
For your next trip to Mexico, bring back some Xmas gourds. 😊
I think they will germinate. I expect about 50 seeds. Hope you will use a drill.
Oh no you hit it with a hammer. OH, WOW, I feel servant with a guess of 50!!
I have heard of grain seeds taken from an Egyptian pyramid which germinated so I expect these will germinate as well.
35 seeds. Yes germinate
You had me laughing so hard I was crying!!
Luke never fails to make me smile.
“Look how clean those seeds are!” immediately touches them barehanded before realizing. “Oh-!”
Cool experiment. How do you know for sure it's 60 years old though? Did it have a date on it? I have 0 experience with antiques. Looking forward to seeing how many germinate.
Cute chicken. I hope you don't get sick from the smell!
This is exciting!!
I guessed 42 seeds and then immediately thought that was way too high of a guess. Turns out, not high enough!
I preferred the ornament.
Wow! Lotta seeds!
so cool!
I'm a little surprised you zipped the baggy shut; I thought a bit of air circulation would be preferable (= less chance for mold?). 🤷♀️
The things you’ll do to get a like 😂😂😂
You are like a kid in a toy store. I can't wait to see the outcome.👍✌️
It'll germinate.
This should be an interesting experiment.
Right up the road from here about a 15-20 minute drive is a gourd museum this YouTube video is about 5 minutes and shows it

Cool to see you trying old seed again. I got inspired by the giant crimson to try some seeds from an old collection. I tried a handful of varieties and was happy to get the one I really wanted labeled as Peru 499388 and it grew into a nice 4’ plant with hundreds of pods. Not as old as you’ve tried at around 12 yrs but Probably can’t find this anywhere being it just a number. Of course I saved seeds and overwintering it too.
The sudden choking when you opened it! 😂 omg I hollered 🤣😂🤣☠️
I’m so excited to watch these grow, I grow gourds, make crafts, bird feeders etc. I think they will grow and I think 12
I think they will be viable. Maybe 35 seeds?
