Perennial flowers come back year after year. Purple Cone Flower, Shasta Daisy, and Black Eyed Susan are my 3 favorite flowers for the vegetable garden. They are very hardy, hard to kill, and require minimal maintenance. You can even seed start them with out grow-lights.

@THERUSTEDGARDEN
I have a whole row of black eyed susans sprouted right now. I plan on putting them in my porch raised bed. Hoping they take and last forever. It's afternoon and evening sun, southwest facing. Do you think they'll be ok there?
Suggestion for folks who don't have flats without holes: I'm using a shoe/boot tray that I picked up at Walmart. They also have them at Tractor Supply.
Good morning Gary really appreciate this video! Thanks again 🌱🪴🌼🪻🌹🍄💓
Thank you!
Last year i tried growing Shasta Daises, direct sowing in a raised bed, and didn't have a single seed germinate. Also I grew dwarf zinnias (Thumbelina blend) that were supposed to get eight to twelve inches tall. They grew to three feet tall. I'm growing the zinnias again, but with the expectancy that they will grow thee feet tall. I haven't tried purple cone flowers but will put them on the list to try growing next year. To attract pollinators, and add a splash of color to my garden, I am also growing Apricot Lemonade Cosmos, mixed color Bachelor Buttons, Marigolds, and Strawflowers.
I have asiatic beetles in NY that eat the leaves off the coneflower as soon as they blossom. Help
Perennial is good but herbs & useful plant is better for small space & apartment gardening need.
Im 2022 I planted the Shasta daisies from seed and in 2023 they bloomed well. So darn beautiful flowers 🌸
