In this video, I share three excellent gardening books with you, each with their own unique emphasis. The first thoroughly and beautifully explores and explains the world of growing plants for creating your own teas. Another is an incredibly interesting look at edible plants and trees you can grow, many of which you probably have never heard of or seen. So many great ones! The last book is written by the experienced British gardener Carol Klein, and she shares in extensive detail (along with gorgeous, detailed photos!) how to propagate almost any plant you want!

Well hello from Northern California it is a beautiful sunny afternoon in the midst of uh two or three weeks of pouring rain and I am loving it I want to share with you some of the places where I buy seeds I’m not going to share the ones everybody already knows about
Even though they’re great and I think we all know the main one of those right Baker Creek I do love them but I’m going to be sharing some lesser known places that I think you might really find some original and just fantastic seeds to try out this
Year and I have a little seed haul to do at the end of the video something I got actually off of a great new find on Etsy and then for those of you who might be interested a little bit of a Life Update just on why I haven’t been here for the
Past few weeks so if you haven’t been to my channel before I’m Kim I do live here in Northern California Zone 9B and I call my place Olive City OAS because it is my little Refuge 2 and 1/2 acres but it feels like it’s a lot bigger
Sometimes so if you are interested on what’s been going on with me let me just fill you in for a few moments before we get into all the seed stuff if you would like to you can just jump ahead I’ll post the Tim stamp right above and in
The pinned comment below so that you can get right to the Garden info but for those of you who you know have been following me for a while and are interested in um a little more than just the garden stuff I thought I would fill
You in on what’s going on so in January I had all kinds of plans to post all sorts of fun videos and then I had a big surprise pulled on me all of my children and there are a lot of them completely hid from me for months that they were
Planning this big surprise and I came out one evening to get something for my printer right before going to sleep and uh lo and behold there was one of my daughters she moved to Hawaii with her partner a few years ago to do grad school and has since graduated and
Working there now and you know really enjoying life living on the beach and everything and there she was suddenly right there in the the dim light of my front room that night and I thought maybe I was dreaming but no so we had a super nice visit for the next week
However something else happened in January that really threw me off and that is I got Co again I know I had it like a year and a half ago well I got it again and this time it really laid me out for a few weeks and so yeah I did
Manage uh during the second and third week to go ahead and start watching some videos some of my favorite YouTubers and um making a few comments here and there but by and large I had absolutely no energy to do anything until just this past uh weekend and now I’m feeling more
Like myself again thankfully all right on to the SE need information so the first company I want to share with you is Seed Savers exchange they have a beautiful catalog and a fantastic website let me read to you from their catalog what their mission is seedsavers exchange stewards America’s culturally
Diverse and endangered garden and food crop Legacy for present and future Generations we educate and connect people through collecting regenerating and sharing Heirloom Seeds plants and stories and yes their catalog is full of stories really interesting and inspirational their catalog also is full of gorgeous color photos their
Headquarters which is in Iowa includes Heritage Farm which offers tours and Hiking uh in the months March through October so that just might be a road trip I take sometime soon their seeds are 100% non-GMO and organic and most of them are heirloom quality they have a
Huge variety of seeds that and I’m always finding new things to grow when I look uh through their catalog or on their website so yeah that’s Seed Savers exchange another great source of seeds which I really love is territorial seed company they have a really nice catalog
Very very full of all kinds of seeds as well as supplies for starting your seeds and gardening in general they are in Oregon and they have 75 Acres there a good part of which they dedicate to triing all kinds of new varieties they are 100% organic and they have a super
High germination rate I’ve never had anything but success with the seeds I get from them two other seed companies I really like one of which I actually go to their Nursery at least a couple times a year because it’s only about two and a half three hours away from me uh funnily
Enough share very similar names so we have Annie’s annuals and perennials and that’s the one that that is in the Bay Area Annie’s out here in California it is just an awesome experience to go to it is an absolutely gorgeous Nursery with a lot of display flowers and they
Grow so many uh California natives overall they do have a lot of vegetables and herbs and in the spring be root fruit trees though not a huge amount of them but mostly they are known for their amazing flowers so I highly recommend you get their free catalog and that you
Go to their website one thing I love about Annie’s annuals and perennials is their descriptions of each and every plant they sell are incredibly informational but also entertaining they have these in their catalog and they also have them uh on little signs or rather big signs at each plant in the
Nursery so it’s always a fun field trip to go there but yes definitely check out Annie’s annuals and penals and the catalog that shares a very similar name with Annie is Annie’s heiro seeds now Annie’s Heirloom Seeds is a smaller organization it does not have the you
Know great number of seeds that some of these other companies do but their seeds are all 100% non-GMO organic their heirlooms are at least 50 years old one thing that is sort of uh distinctive is that they offer a lot of different collections so if you’re not really sure
If you’re new to gardening or maybe you have a friend new to gardening you can get a good deal on getting a certain collection of seeds from them like the culinary herb garden or the medicinal herb garden the bugs be gone Garden the victory home Garden there’s quite a
Variety to check out so yes Annie’s Heirloom Seeds is a good one for you to you know search through and see if you find something unusual or interesting to take home with you oh and they’re in Wisconsin just so you know one more Seed Catalog I’d like to share with you that
Is another one from Oregon is new to me I’ve never ordered from them before but I definitely will be placing an order with them this this week just to test them out because uh they do have some really fascinating things in their little catalog it’s called the strictly
Medicinal Seed Catalog now having never ordered from them I don’t know much about this seed company yet but they sound really good let me just read a little bit to you from the catalog our seeds and plants are GMO free untreated open pollinated and packed with love and
Having glanced through the catalog I will say they have some varieties I’ve never seen anywhere before so definitely check them out all right time for the seeds that I recently bought they’re the only seeds I’ve bought so far this year and I’m not going to be buying that many
More I am going to do that small experimental a buy from Strictly medicinal seeds but I have so many seeds left from the last couple of years I really want to be a good Steward of them and not waste them so I’m going to be planting a lot of those but I stumbled
Across a small family farm that had an Etsy site and I just saw the reviews were over the moon happy with them both on how quickly they shipped and how they would always send a little free packet with what you bought and how they had just some really
Interesting seeds so I looked at what they had and yeah I was really impressed so I ordered some seeds from them this is Chill Hill Farms in Florida yeah chill Hill isn’t that a cool name so what did I get not a lot but some fun stuff came in this little package and
Their seeds being a small family farm let’s make sure yeah I got them all uh are come in these little tiny Ziploc bags so I got 10 or 12 packets of seeds let’s look at them more closely so first up I got some gloriosa daisies Rudbeckia Herta got 25 seeds they were just
Gorgeous I will put a picture of them here so you can see what they look like when they bloom I am hoping that they do really well here another flower I got is the Pine Land hibiscus only five seeds I hope they do well I love habiscus
Flowers and you know my uh red Roselle habiscus although I grow them for the ability to make tea and jam and such the flowers are so gorgeous and I just thought these were also beautiful so I’m going to try my hand at these now I love tomatillos and I usually have them come
Up as volunteers because I’ve planted in them in the past they are you know a plant that loves to come back as a volunteer and they did come back again this past year as a volunteer but not as many as usual so I thought well I’m
Going to grow a lot on purpose this year and then I should be set for the next five or six years with volunteers all right the beauty Berry calic carpa Americana I have been seeing this everywhere in the last year or two well not in real life but you know
Online and I think it’s just oh fantastic it’s so unusual and yes beautiful I want to grow this myself so here we go I’m going to try it all right now this one probably other people have grown but I haven’t Partridge pea to be honest with you I don’t even remember
What this one looks like but I know I thought it was gorgeous so let’s put a picture up and I bet you agree huh I’m definitely hoping I can find the right microclimate for this so it does well because there’s seeds I think I’m going to try a few different spots on the
Property and I think it’s one that sell seeds well I hope so anybody out there grow Partridge bee let me know your experience with it okay Mimosa silk tree of course I had to get these seeds when I saw this was available in their little shop I couldn’t believe it I used to
Live in a place where we had a huge gorgeous Mimosa silk tree and I would love to grow one or two here I’m going to grow some in pots and some in the ground you know in case I have to move in the next few years I can take some
With me and lastly some free Indian blanket seeds I used to have these growing all over I planted a couple of small plants one year and they just you know overwintered quite well and they spread they self-seeded and they lasted four or 5 years and I still have a few
Plants but some of them have died off so this will be good to put them all over their orange and red colors are so attract Ive to butterflies and hummingbirds I don’t know if the hummingbirds actually get anything out of them but they’re super attracted to
Them it brings them in and then they you know look around and find all the other flowers that they can uh take advantage of so yeah I’m planning to bring a lot more flowers in throughout my veggie garden and Orchard this year so I hope you found a seed company or maybe two
Three or four that either are new to you or just maybe you’d forgotten about that you can go check out online also ask for a free catalog sent to you and uh see what you can find there I can almost guarantee you’re bound to discover something that strikes your fancy that
You just have to try this year thanks for hanging out with me this afternoon the sun’s starting to go down so I’ll be heading indoors and over the next few days going to start these seeds take it easy now and I’ll see you again real soon

07:34 Seed HAUL!
I was wondering how you were after our big storm. We had wind gust over 70 miles an hour but luckily all the plants survived. I'm planting a Garden Tower 2 this year I wanted to give it a try for herbs and strawberries. I'm also planting dandelions and mullein seeds this year I've never planted them before. I'm happy to hear you are over that nasty COVID.
What an exciting seed haul. Spring always feels a lot closer when you start looking at seeds. I recently bought some roselle seeds that I need to get started because it will be hard for them to ripen during our short Summer here. I agree: the flowers are so beautiful that the 'fruits' are like an added bonus.
So sorry to hear you had Covid. We've got what is suspected be a strain of it doing the rounds at one of my sons' school and it really knocks you out. I guess it's just the time of year for it.
Lovely new seeds to try!
Strictly Medicinal seeds are great and if you're into herbalism you can find just about any herb you might desire.
Ooo!!! Strictly Medicinal is peaking my interest 🧐
We have beauty berry growing wild all over our woods. It really is beautiful 💜
I’m glad you’re back and feeling better ❤️🩹
Wow 2 1/2 acres is a lot but it looks soooo much bigger. What a wonderful surprise. I think we all have contracted Covid “again” — I’m glad you are better friend. Thanks for sharing more unusual seed companies. I have a video coming out sharing my Botanical Seeds. I’m with you with the seeds. Probably never need to buy another seed. Chill Hill Farms — I will definitely check them out. Beauty Berry Seeds??? Wow!!! Thanks for sharing.
