I just spent the day at Derriford Hospital, planting this courtyard with Andi (head gardener @yeovalleyorganicgarden) @gracealexanderflowers and a team of volunteers including nurses from the intensive care unit. They will be using this space over the coming weeks and months to get some respite from the impending peak of the Coronavirus outbreak. All the plants were grown for the @yeovalley garden which would have been @the_rhs Chelsea Flower Show in May. After the show was cancelled we needed to find a home for the plants and this seemed like the perfect place to donate them. It will be looking amazing in a week or two with lots of colour and scent, we planted really densely, like a show garden, to provide a real impact and really lift the space. Most of the hospital staff will be working non-stop so anywhere to take some time out, get some fresh air and be around beautiful plants will hopefully help them get though it.
