Can the mosquito larvae survive in this?

Collected the water, dirt and plant in a dried up pond, it smells a bit off but there are definitely signs of life. I noticed there are mosquitoes larvae’s, doesn’t anyone know if they will be able to hatch and survive being in a closed container? Also should I be keeping this in my room with my other terrariums. Idk why the thought of collecting still/ stagnant water is getting to be a bit 😭

I’ve raised a few broods and my experience has been that they will likely drown when the adult mosquito emerges from the pupae and attempts to fly, bouncing off the lid and into the water. I presume there are airholes in the lid.

If you want to keep them, you can pipette up the pupae and transfer them to another container.

I don’t know what genus/species you have, but if you want some reading on rearing, [Methods in Anopholes Research MR4](https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/view/49409322/methods-in-anopheles-research-mr4) should get you started. It is primarily aimed at Anopholes mosquitos, which those are not, but there is a lot of similarity.

Good luck and post updates on when they transform from wrigglers to tumblers (pupae).
