Reddit swallowed my text… so from the top.
My bestie brought me this angled Triostar cutting on Monday, and since separating it from the giant mother plant on Saturday, she has already pushed out the baby shoot, making this whole endeavor even more difficult. I don’t even know how to put this in anything, if I should put it in water or perlite, if I can seperate the two bunches or if roots would only emerge from the stem part… she’s so gorgeous and I don’t want to mess it up. Would this cutting even take or would it have needed a node bump like marantas do?

  2. My concern is that placing it in soil may not give it enough time to grow roots before it gets too angry and gives up on life, so I would initially place it in water, at least until it stabilizes (opens up the leaves). Also… It’s possible the shoot won’t survive as the plant will likely prioritize energy for creating roots. Hoping someone else can better answer your question about the node but I THINK you’ll be okay.

I have tried to prop tricolor stromanthe a few times, always unsuccessful. It’d be 100% more reliable to divide at the crown. Best of luck!
