vegetable gardening in the bagard 2024 Garden series part one hello welcome to 77s Garden where we talk about gardening ways to save money and other special events if you new to the Channel Please Subscribe and hit the Bell icon so that you get notified of all upcoming videos hello everybody Welcome to our garden Series this Garden series um we’re going to cover the garden uh from the beginning of the spring which is right now to the end of the growing season so I know uh some of you have asked about uh various uh times that we plant and various things that we plant so this series is going to take you guys from uh the planting that we’re going to start very soon to harvesting the growing and harvesting the various crubs that we do in the garden so it’s going to give you a full picture of the garden from the beginning to the end of the season so stay tuned for the videos we’re going to try to see if we can update it uh probably every week uh give you guys update on what’s going on also show you some of the things that we’re doing in the garden to improve the garden the transformation that’s going to take place in the garden so uh let’s just go and I’ll show you how the garden is now before the start of the season and then we go from there let’s go as you can see in this end of the garden over here we have our beds over here and what I have done is you use um leaves and from the trees and other stuff to cover the whole beds during the fall and the winter period um one to protect weeds from coming out two to maintain the moisture and to prevent harsh temperatures on the beds himself so um over here we have uh um leaves and um other um debris from the garden that we collected and just covered the whole beds um some areas are a little bit exposed because of the wind and the rain but overall there’s not a lot of wheed in the garden there’s not a lot of um um destruction in the garden so um right now everything is great everything looks fine so we within a couple of weeks we’re going to start um preparing the garden we haven’t had our last fall um our last frost date yet um last FR dat is usually the first or second week of May so we still have a uh couple of weeks to go together these vegetables over here are kale kale in the winter don’t usually just die they just go d a little bit and then in the spring uh they get back up and start producing more leaves and so hopefully within a week or two we should be able to start harvesting some of the kill but you can see the garden um we have some of these corn stocks and stuff that we have um we use them we cut them down and just put them in the for to prevent weed and also for it help them break down a little bit more some of them were added to a compost pile um but these ones were not added to the compost pile so we can add them to the compost pile or we can bury them into the the ground when we’re planting um when we’re teing the bed and planting the bread um at the uh in the fall it was very difficult to uh take out the the corn corn stocks because they were very very um uh The Roots were deep into the soil and they were difficult to to take out but now the roots have rotten out and they easy to pull out and and uh either bury them in the garden bed or put them in our compost pile so on this side you can see um we have a lot of stuff due to the winds a lot of the stuff that we use like Tres and stuff all came down but um that’s something that we can easily put back up um let me know in the comments below if you’ve started where you are uh and if you started your gardening already I know I’m in zone 10 B so um we still have some time to go but we’ve started some stuff in the greenhouse check out my Greenhouse series I’ll see if you can put a link to that in the um in the description below but um let me know in the comments below um if you’ve started your gardening already and now um what stage you are in your gardening process as you can see everything looks dry and uh even the containers over here most of our my my containers in outside containers are empty them into this uh big um containers over here and cover them with leaves that helps the microorganisms and and and the uh worms and other stuff continue to thrive and break down uh break down the soil even further so let me just open this and show you um even with the rain the rain didn’t penetrate that much today but you can see underneath uh this the soil is is fresh um so with the leav on top of it at least it uh provides it much warmer temperature and and the warms are going to thrive they’re going to break down more which is in turn is going to help improve the soil um the soil quality and also help um when when we we use it to plant uh help improve um the our our garden also you can see our um strawberries are already coming out the strawberry Tower over here is already coming out and it’s uh a least already coming out so hopefully we get a lot of strawberries from these containers and this Tower this year uh we had a few last year but uh this is the third year I think um so uh hopefully we’ll get more this year so let me just take you down over here on the side of the house we did the same thing we used most of the leaves from our trees and just try to cover the beds as much as possible some of them are going to break down um but most of them are still going to be intact and we can bury them into the soil when we teal and and um and and start planting so uh we we definitely use them some of them we can use them to cover the beds and cover the rows uh so that way weeds don’t come out but most of them are going to be either buried or you put in a compost pile so this is a compo compost pile right now I’m in the process of uh turning the compost pile there’s a lot of leaves and a lot of other stuff so I got some um manure and I’m adding the manual to it and turning it so hopefully by Maybe by July this compost will be ready to put at the bottom of plant which will provide the plants with more nutrients uh to continue growing and producing more um for the garden okay on this side of the house over here uh we have the same thing we covered it up with the leaves as you can see we covered it up with leaves and you can see some of the these a garlic some of the seeds of the garlic that dropped last year I think this is um garlic also some of the seeds dropped on the on the garden bed and they coming out this here um this garlic uh coming out over here and this one looks like onions um these are onions over here but um overall on this side everything is the same uh we’re going to like I said we’re going to start um uh tealing and uh and uh planting very soon okay uh that is it for today that’s it for the first series of the garden um so um stay tuned for updates on the on the on the uh growing on on transformation in the garden and um uh also check out the links below to support the channel you can get our merch you can get shirts
