Plant Propagation

Should I cut this one in half?

I have this cutting that is doing great, but it's very long. I'm wondering if I should cut between the nodes where my fingers are. I don't want to shock the plant and kill it, but I don't think that's super likely… Any suggestions, or should I just keep it as is?

You generally don’t want your cuttings to have a whole lot of stem. I go for about 1-3 nodes per cutting for most plants. Since it already has a good root, I’d cut below the node that produced the root right above your thumb.

I go chop crazy and would personally cut above everywhere there’s already roots

  3. It’s true that you don’t need it that long, but since you already went that way and your stem doesn’t have a lot of leaves I’d keep it that way, for while.
Wait for more roots to grow and wait a little more to see where new growth is popping. Then you’ll know how to devide it, leaving each cutting with a leaf or two and possibly good roots too. Maybe some of the bottom of the stem will root or yellow, and then you’ll cut it off under a node of course
