Plant Propagation

Monstera propagation first timer help/advice needed

Hi there,

This is my monstera plant which has grown like crazy over the last few years and I am quite proud of it. I have used a moss pole to hold it up and help it grow vertically (the trellis in the picture I just added recently).

I am debating whether or not to try to propagate it but have never done this before and am scared because I really do love the way my plant looks. The bottom stem is super skinny compared to the thicker branches/new growth at the top (see pictures with my fingers to compare thickness). I am worried it will snap one day and would like to have the propagated new plant have a thicker base.

I have read a lot of blogs/watched YouTube videos on how to do this and have a few questions for my specific plants case.

I would want to cut the monstera basically where all the bigger leaves have sprouted from which has lots of Ariel roots above that point which I know you need for the roots to grow. What I’m wondering is if anyone has propagated that big of a section before?

I’d like to propagate one piece which has the multiple leave’s attached (4 or 5 depending on where I’d cut) I’ve included pictures with lines where I was thinking of cutting.

My worst fear is killing the plant that I’ve worked so hard on growing so big the past few years, but would like for the bigger leaves to be propagated to a new plant. Any advice on whether I should do this or not would be so appreciated
