[Music] this morning on Sunrise we are highlighting a new art exhibition at the Portland Japanese garden it’s called vision of place and you can see it until June 10th our Sunrise photographer Chad deart went to see what it’s [Music] all and we’re entering the pavilon gallery featuring shashin vision of place exhibition [Music] my name is Carolyn sinka I am the assistant director of exhibitions at Portland Japanese garden we’re featuring the work of the northfinder which is a group of photographers based out of haido Japan saporo has sister city relationships with several different um cities around the world but its relationship with Portland is the [Music] oldest we chose photography as a way to celebrate this relationship because photographs are such an inherent way that we want to share what’s special to us with people around [Music] us I love jewelry ice so much you’ll see these blocks of ice which are shining in the Twilight um that resemble jewelry I think it’s really just gorgeous and such an incredible [Music] scene something that’s really lovely about this exhibition is seeing the connections between our garden here in Portland and locations in Hokkaido I love these cranes I got to talk about the cranes you can just see their breath in the air floating above them so you get the sense of this chilly winter landscape and just how beautiful these birds [Music] are the mission of Portland Japanese garden is to inspire Harmony and peace um so being able to celebrate this partnership um of Two Cities um that have such a special history and ties to each other through photography um feels like a wonderful way to celebrate that [Music]
