I garden because it's cheaper to grow my own cannabis (legal here) than pay out to the greedy dispensary owners. I do it for myself, my wife, my brother and brother-in-law, and mother-in-law because each of us has severe pain problems (I was hit by a car while walking across the street in 2011, momma's got cancer, brother has had 11 back surgeries, brother-in-law has UC/Crones) and some mental health issues, and the cannabis helps with a lot of it.

My dad gardens and I never would have known. We have a mango tree the same age as my older brother who's at least 40. When I have space I'll garden too ❤
Tastes better and can preserve extras by canning or dehydrating. Make my own fruit juices too. We don't eat Jam. Wish we could still have chickens. It's one of the reasons I moved here after searching 100ish houses. Then city council ruined that.
Yeah man, inflation is KILLING us. Higher prices for lower quality over and over and over. I garden to stick it to the a55holes trying to stick it to us.
It’s ferrying to see the people who scream climate change and declare war on farmers are ones who have no idea where or how good grows. It just shows up at the grocery store and they live in a concrete jungle.
And the joy of harvesting and enjoying what you worked so hard to grow! We live in a “ I want it NOW world”. Gardening forces us to wait, watch, learn, even fail but try again next year.
I garden for my mental health. Despite how frustrating and oft times overwhelming it can be to keep up with the garden, I'd be in far worse shape if I didn't spend time digging around in the dirt.
Love love love gardening. Just 112 here today. Dry oven heat of course. Everything has to be shaded by 11:00 am but it’s workin. I pulled tons of ripe tomatoes this morning!

My 3yr old daughter went with me in the garden picked peas and ate them. What better way to introduce kids to veggies.
